Good
Friendly staff. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Sites well maintained. Lots of amenities. Only complaint are sites a little close.

We booked as it appeared I might have to leave town for work. Kept reservation as work got cancelled. Sites are very close to one another.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Sites were clean but very close to one another.
An ok stay but too many people too close together.
Close to Mount Rushmore and crazy horse! Pirates cove mini golf is a short drive away! Great facility with standard KOA amenities. Have stayed here twice but was only able to find a few photos from a stay about a decade ago.
Easy access, clean nice drive through sites
Close to everything in the city, but outdoorsy feel. Great for the kids. Fair pricing.
Just passing through but had to stay for two nights bcuz of work. This place was friendly and has many Amenities. Clean bathrooms and the other guests were just as friendly as the staff.
We have been at this koa for 2 weeks. We came for the Sturgis Motorcycle rally. Our truck broke down once we got here. The staff and the facilities on site and in the area have been a god send. We have been able to extend our stay with the grace and help of the staff and other locals. If I was going to get stranded I can not imagine a better place.
We got here late in the afternoon during a heat wave with overcast skies. There had just been a downpour so things were a bit muddy. Pool was very clean and nice as was everything encountered.
There was a lot of grass here and the playground area had updated equipment and nice rocks beneath. There was a basketball court in another area and a large checker board. There was a small glitch with the hose hookup, but no real issues.
Most items in the game room ate our money and didn’t work. We did get a couple of super balls.
It was quiet and set back more from the road than most KOAS where we’ve stayed.
It’s pretty large so I tried twice to shower and couldn’t get in. We have an RV, but 5 of us are trying to get in at the same time.
We passed by this KOA after booking a spot in the Custer KOA & wished we had stayed here instead. The Custer campground was very crowded and, from the road, this appeared more spacious.
While you are here - make sure to check out Bear Country USA which is nearby.
Custer State Park had few animals that were in close view but Bear Country USA did not disappoint.
Reasonable pricing and site size. Friendly staff and bathrooms were clean. Also, skoolie friendly.
Nice and friendly. Also skoolie friendly .
This was a pretty nice spot. It’s about a half hour from Rushmore and the Badlands. It’s a huge park, not a ton of tree coverage (had some pretty strong winds come through overnight). The showers, bathroom and laundry room are super clean. We’d go back for sure.
This was such a nice experience! My parents were able to rent a deluxe cabin right next to our campsite. My parents don’t “camp,” so this was perfect for a family vacation. My children got to camp and experience s’mores and starlit skies with their Nana and Papa! Pros: full hookups, clean & well kept grounds, nice playground for children, deluxe cabins have full bathroom with shower and full kitchen Cons: this campground was further away from all the tourist attractions than we realized (so that’s on us, not them 😉)
This was a helpful stop during our family vacation Aug. 2019. We upgraded to the deluxe spot with full hook ups, which was nice. Spots are close together, but to be expected. Bummer, when we were there, the pool was closed. Kids loved the playground & we had a nice time at the pancake breakfast. People working there are very kind & made us smile with the fun pancakes!
We stayed here on our way there and back to Iowa recently. Nice campground, neat hilltop view. All hookups available and spacious spots. Will definitely be going back on our next Iowa trips.
I had been having trouble with my van so finding a campground with hookups, great showers, clean bathroom, and outdoor sink for washing camping dishes was great. It's basically an RV park with a few spaces for tents. But they each have electricity which was nice for me. The spaces are close together. My fee was around $44 for the smallest site but this is par for the course for KOAs I think. A great one-night respite if you just want something easy. Showers were really great.
This was an easy access over night stay for my family to be able to drive to Mt. Rushmore the following morning.
nice KOA, got a free grocery bag to boot! Train tracks are below the site and noisy at night....pancake breakfast was a good deal!
There are so many activities offered for families you need to stay several nights to experience them all. Staff was friendly and helpful. The campground is set in a valley so the surrounding scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. The only downside is that the sites are a bit small so there’s no privacy.
This campground is in a very central location along a highway that gets you to mt Rushmore, wall drug, the badlands, and much, much more within an hour.
They offer rental cars for a comparable price which is very convenient and something as an avid world traveler and camper, I’ve never seen!
The pictures online are a bit dated, but all in all- the pool is warm, the showers are clean, and the area is great.
There’s always an evening event and breakfast is available-do not miss out on the pancakes. Geared toward RVs but there are a few decent sites for small tent with trees for shade. Game room, pool and hot tub are fun but the showers make it enjoyable because they’re private.
