This was a nice find! Sites pretty close together, especially those in the middle. Some, however, were right on the lake or had paths that lead to a picnic table & fire ring closer to the water. As another reviewer mentioned, one of the loops has sites that are not very level. It was not a problem though. Trails seemed nice & it was a nice surprise to find the dock & bridge near our site. Beach was nice! It was a decent walk there, but at least had a trail to the beach. Nice playground too.
Had a great time here!! Had two pull in spots next to each other (met Gma & Gpa there) &, therefore, had a huge yard for the kids to play in!! Lots of spots - some more in the open & others more secluded. A bit of a walk to the beach from the west loop, but not bad. Beach was nice - sand, sectioned off swim area, & concessions were open.
We did not stay here camping, but drove over from Turtle River state park (no swim beach there). The beach was great - nice sand, grass area, & nice water!
Stayed here on our family vacation to various state parks in ND. Although, this was a nice place, it was the bottom in our list of places we visited. No swim beach - we ended up going over to Larimore Dam rec area, which was awesome!! Had some geocaches, but TONS of poison ivy!!!! Even had sprouts if it in our mowed campsite! We were careful & nobody got it. Had a scavenger hunt while we were there, which was a nice way to explore a bit. Nice trails.
Great place to stay!! Campsites were nice & taken care of! Some sites were elevated or lowered with a few stairs; kinda cool! Swim beach was a bit of a walk, but totally worth it!! Great sandy beach & nice water!! Activities set up for families/kids each weekend. Nice playground between loops too.
Great spot!! Stopped here on our family vacation. Nice campsites (loop), very clean! Friendly hosts - gave the kids tattoos & stickers. Swim beach was great. Lots of great skipping rocks! Playgrounds were nice & not busy. Nice trails.
Stopped here during our 2019 family vacation. Nice views! We did not stay in the main campground & we were almost the only people there! Nice sandy beach & swim area that the kids really enjoyed. Playground was nice too!
This was a helpful stop during our family vacation Aug. 2019. We upgraded to the deluxe spot with full hook ups, which was nice. Spots are close together, but to be expected. Bummer, when we were there, the pool was closed. Kids loved the playground & we had a nice time at the pancake breakfast. People working there are very kind & made us smile with the fun pancakes!
Nice place to stay! We visited on our family vacation in Aug. 2019. Lots of frogs here! Playground was at the other camp loop, but we spent some time playing before we left. Found some geocaches in the park, which was fun! The swim area was nice, no sand, but a nice place to swim where the water was clean! Camp site was a nice spot with privacy. Electric hook ups.
We stayed at General Sibley campground on our family vacation in 2018. Large campground & we were pretty much in our own area. Frisbee golf course & playground. Nice first stop on our journey!
We stayed here during our family vacation in 2018. It was basically a parking lot, but did have some green space. We did have an end spot, which was nice! Great playground that the kids loved! The swimming beach was awesome - sand & great water & view.
We have stayed at the Cottonwood campground in the T.R. National Park a number of times & have loved it each time!! We’ve tented &, more recently, stayed in a RV - both types of stays were great!! Love the scenic drive loop because of the gorgeous views & you are guaranteed to see some wildlife - buffalo, wild horses, elk, prairie dogs, deer!! Great scenic stops along the drive in the Park. Wind Canyon was a favorite stop. We also went horse back riding (in the Park) one year that we visited. We had buffalo walk through the campsite when we were in the tent! Although there’s no designated swim beach, we were able to walk down to the river to cool off (muddy though). Great views, wild life, history, & scenery - definitely worth a trip!!
We stopped at Oahe Rec Area during our family vacation in Aug. 2019. Nice, well kept campgrounds with playground & good places for the kids to run/explore. Only drawback was, when we were there, the swim beach had a bunch of dead fish everywhere. Someone had picked all of them up from the beach, but you could see the indents of the fish & see them on both sides of the swim beach area. On our way out, we stopped at the butterfly/flower garden where a park staff was tagging butterflies. We got to join in the fun - was such a cool experience for both my son & me!
We stopped at Sleepy Hollow after a days worth of driving & visiting Wall. Spots are pretty close together but does have green space between. Nice small playground & swing. Dog park area.
Nice little campgrounds. Our favorite part was checking out the Old Mill & settler’s cabin. Unfortunately, the bridge & swimming pond were closed. Electric & water hook ups on the inner loop. LOTS of mosquitos when we visited - bring bug spray & extra bug spray! Great little self serve firewood spot in the campsite. Kept clean. Trails were neat, but we spent minimal time on them due to the bugs. Playground is a swing set.
We visited the Sheridan Lake Black Hills National Forest on our 2019 family vacation in August & it was awesome!! Stayed at a primitive site with gorgeous views of the forest & lake. No cell service where we were, which was a nice detachment! Kids enjoyed exploring too. It was so neat listening (& seeing) the wind roll through the trees!!
We stayed here in Aug 2019 - although it was a short visit, we had a nice time. Wasn’t busy, kids liked playground, walking path, and checking out Mortimer’s cabin. Electric hook-ups.
Nice, small campsite. We stayed a couple of times late summer/early fall 2019. Bummer was the swimming beach was closed for the summer. Some trails that were nice to check out. Electric hook-ups. No playground. Definitely recommend sites on the outer loop, especially along the tree line. Great colors in the fall!
This was a nice little find! Two small loops in the campground with some sites along the water. Only electric on the inner loop. We stayed at site 2, which was nice; had enough room for our RV and a tent. Short walk to some green space with a large sandbox, the boat launch, and swim beach. We also saw a deer walking through the campsite too! Fun to watch all of the birds and pelicans!!
Our first time here, it was nice! Got a great spot near the stream. Playground was nice & neat to see some of the secluded tenting spots on our walk - they look awesome! Same friendly & helpful caretakers as at Clausen Springs, which was cool. A few bridges to find & see through the campground. Overall, no cell service - but, okay to detach for camping & family time!!
