The Best Camping Near Mitchell, South Dakota

This is a full-service campground directly alongside I90. Even though it’s adjacent to the interstate, we really didn’t hear any highway noise. The park has full hookups with both 30 and 50 amp sites. The water pressure is great and the water/sewer connections are well-placed. The sites are level and many are well-shaded. There is a small convenience store with ice and a couple of other essentials. There are restaurants and other amenities within walking distance. Everything is very clean — the laundry room is spotless. The host, Julie is exceptionally hospitable, friendly and accommodating. If you’re just passing through or just want a centrally located spot from which to explore the area, you’re unlikely to find a better spot.

Couldn’t ask for more from a highway stop

This is a Good Sam Campground.

Glad it was a quick stop as it backs up to the railroad &amp; was dirt, but full hookup served its purpose &amp; nice shade. I don’t recall any passing trains during the night. They did pass as we were packing up to leave.

Warning we drug the tail of our camper due to confusing GPS &amp; poor signage trying to find the entrance.

Ok for overnight stop

If this camp was any closer to the highway, it would be on the exit ramp.  While perhaps not ideal for long stays, it was perfect for us as an overnight stop along the way.  It is rather small, but well organized with plenty of space between sites. Pull thru, level, concrete picnic pad, and trees make this a lovely stop.  And even though you can see the highway from the camp, we did not notice any noise with our windows shut.  And close to shopping for any needs you might have.
