Cove Creek campground

The campsites are tiny. We barely fit 2 tents in the site. The pics provided were really just of the driveways so it was hard to see the site. Swimming in the lake is only allowed in a small area and the campground host was lurking around the dock all day. Bathrooms are flush toilets and fairly clean.

Detroit Lake in September

We Visited in September, Beautiful place, there is a hike up to Red Lake, which is well worth the time we spent lost trying to find the trailhead. We got to the lake at dusk, and had it all to ourselves.

Great even in the off season

We love Detroit Lake just as much during the off season as we do during the summer. The spots are generous and the lake is really cool without water!

Lots of amenities and gorgeous surroundings!

We've been camping at Detroit Lake State Park for many years and love the beauty of the lake, the trees, and the mountain. We feel that the rangers are friendly and work to keep things looking clean and inviting. Campsites aren't very far apart, however it seems like people in nearby campsites are always friendly and considerate for the most part.

State Park on the edge of a Lake

I wasn't overly impressed with this campground. I was there the weekend after Labor Day and it was still pretty busy/full. There were a couple sites that sounded like Frat Parties that went well into the night. The spots were also very close to each other, so the people in the spot next to me could hear our conversations and same for us. Also there were RV spots looking down on the tent site I was in. The sheriff and rangers were also constantly patrolling the campground, which made it seem not as safe. Also this late in the season the lake is very low, so it was a bit of a walk to get to the water's edge. The pros were there was a great trail (3 miles) going all away around the park/along the lake. The bathrooms were clean and well lit. There were plenty of activities for children and families.

Busy, large and lots of amenities

Choose your site carefully here. The interior sites lack privacy and are very exposed. There are some amazing water side sites however if you can nab one. There is a little store on site, great lake swimming, and nice bathrooms.

Clean & beautiful

My family and I came here in August 2017 to see the solar eclipse in totality and it was spectacular! The rangers and staff made sure to put on events and activities throughout the week leading up to the event, and everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

The campgrounds are HUGE, but campsites were pretty spacious. You don't get a ton of privacy, but there is plenty of nature to go around. The park is filled with Douglas Firs that provide so much shade all day, and lots of other maples and native plants. There is easy beach access throughout the park so every campsite can easily access the water. The water is pretty murky so make sure you wear water shoes and bring floaties for the lake. The park is also very dog-friendly, bike-friendly, and family-friendly.

One of the best parts about Detroit Lake campgrounds is the restrooms. They are clean and well-maintained. The showers are FREE, and they are hot! It doesn't get any better than that IMO. The town of Detroit is also about a mile away so it's very easy to drive/bike/hike into town to pick up any supplies you might need. There is also a little market for food/drinks, restaurants, and bars.

Big Trees, Lovely Lake, Cozy Little Campsites

This was a spontaneous one-night trip with just me, the kids, & the pup. Our spot was very small, but nestled in soft moss among towering trees. It was cool & well-shaded, with a short path to the lake. There was a picnic table & a fire ring, water & electrical hookups (though we were in a car), & restrooms were a short walk away.

The lake was beautiful & inviting & great fun for the kids.

Detroit rock lake!!

Such a wonderful campground. Rolled in on a Monday to a nearly full campground, but the rangers were super helpful. Firewood sales on site, free showers. Clean and well managed. On top of the amenities it was absolutely gorgeous!! The lake is amazing. Lots of boaters having a great time. Also nice places to swim. A cool amphitheater in the campground, looks like I should throw a bluegrass jam party.

Nice, but busy

We stayed in B loop. The camping areas were small, but shaded. It was very busy with close neighbors, but the water was so close and easily accesible. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. The Rangers were helpful and nice. There's a nice wooded path along the lake.
