Stunning Views, Close Sites

The Views surpass anything negative I could say. The location is ideal, we escaped the summer heat, at our site it was about 15 degrees cooler than Sisters temps. The Host who was a Forest Service Employee was wonderful, sites are fairly close together, I would bring a large sheet potentially next time to keep from looking straight into neighbors camps. The bugs were bad in the evening at the water, but not terrible during the day. Bring lots of big spray. The lake is serene, even with boater activity there was plenty of room for my kids to very safely swim. They do not sell firewood at the campground so if you are visiting when fires are allowed bring your own wood. We will for sure return!

Our Favorite Campground

Eel Creek has been one of our favorite campgrounds over the years, we've been there two consecutive years, and plan to continue going there every year, the sites are amazing, the John Dellenback Dunes Trail, is an absolute must, especially at Dawn or Dusk, it's an other worldly experience.

The only reason I'm not giving 4 stars is we have had bad luck with the camp host, last year our car died and our phones died, they were unwilling to offer any help, we did immediately find a neighbor camper who graciously gave us a jump.

Close together spots, beautiful forests

We stayed here three nights, the first night we stayed in spot 57, which was uncomfortably close to 58, only a large log separating the two, would be awesome for two groups, the next night we moved across to 59, better, but very small spots. the high teens, low 20's of this campground have wonderful spots, and I think my review would have been 5 stars had we stayed in one of those spots. Overall in was a good campground, rangers were friendly and knowledgable, there are giant redwood stumps throughout the campground for kids to play on. Good location, close to crescent city and Stout Grove.

Detroit Lake in September

We Visited in September, Beautiful place, there is a hike up to Red Lake, which is well worth the time we spent lost trying to find the trailhead. We got to the lake at dusk, and had it all to ourselves.

Sweet Cabins, Dog Friendly

We stayed in the Cabins here, dog friendly, cozy in the winter months, only a couple dog friendly cabins so have to book ahead of time. Sweet campfire, a bit close together. Nice shorter hikes.

Beautiful Intimate Lake Campground

What a sweet place, it was nearly full when we stayed, but still felt as though we were in the woods camping, spaces spaced apart, quiet, beautiful lake, many fishermen, my daughter swam in the Lake, and we took a short hike for a beautiful view. Also a short day trip from the Painted Hills in John Day (45 min) which is well worth the drive!
