Bone Spring Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Bone Spring Campground sits within Umatilla National Forest, reached via a rough dirt two-track off Tiger Creek Road, roughly 20 miles of driving that requires 4x4 and solid ground clearance. The site is no longer maintained. Signage along the route suggests it once saw regular use, but the individual sites are now hard to distinguish, and the pit toilet on the property has fallen into disrepair. Campers wanting a maintained alternative nearby can find Jubilee Lake Campground (Or) — Umatilla National Forest about 3.6 miles south, accessible from Skyline Road.

No longer maintained, but cool spot

We set out to find this campground 4th of July weekend. Coming from Tiger Creek Road, it's about 20 miles down a dirt two-track. I wouldn't attempt this route without a 4x4 with decent ground clearance, but you can also get there from Skyline Rd by Jubilee Lake. There are a number of signs along the route naming Bone Spring CG, indicating it was a popular spot at one time. Now, it is not maintained and it's difficult to tell where the sites were. There's a pit toilet on site, also not maintained. We decided not to set up camp here, but the place has potential, even in it's current condition.
