Great location
Great location in Medora. Clean bathrooms and showers. Quiet even though spots are close together.
Great location in Medora. Clean bathrooms and showers. Quiet even though spots are close together.
large sites, very helpful & friendly staff & volunteers Large large shade trees Convenient to town, walk or bike ride A really nice place
Nice campground, good roads and pull through spots, wide enough to use picnic tables and have enough room for truck. Ample bathrooms and laundry room was great. ATM and cash change machine in room, dryers are fantastic. Great staff at front desk with late hours. We had emergency truck repair and needed to stay an extra day,,,staff was very helpful and made it work. Lots of sites here, some are shaded…others are full sun. Lots of different options available, RV, tent, cabin, wagon.
Good recreation for kids, basketball/volleyball/gaga ball and city pool at front of campground $5/person. Medora is a small town, easy to bike or walk. No grocery store, only small convenience store so make sure you stock up if you are staying for a few days.
National park entrance South is next door and scenic trail drive is about 2 hours round trip (there is construction so one part of road is shut down…no loop…you have to turn around).
This is our first time staying at a public campground, so I was thinking, maybe it wouldn’t be that great… This place has everything you need and more! Convenient location for exploring Medora. It has a city pool right on site that is heated, a dog park beautiful grounds with huge trees. Great playground, It has a little store connected to the office that has little goodies that you might need for your stay. While in Medora, you must get a caramel roll from Country Cafe (I think that’s the name, cash only and right behind the Badlands motel) best caramel roll I have ever had in my life!
Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, good accommodations
Close to Teddy Roosevelt National Park! The grounds are nice and the office has a small store with some souvenirs and camp essentials. Bathrooms were clean and the campground was overall pretty quiet. We don’t have the biggest camper, but it was big rig friendly for sure. Highly recommend the nearby pitchfork steak fondue place for dinner! I believe that you can rent covered wagons here to sleep in as well if you are looking for a truly unique and western experience. Maybe not authentic to the Oregon trail days since you will have a real house door, but still super neat that they offer this! Campground close enough I was able to walk into the national park one morning. I would compare this place to like a KOA or something of that sort. It has more of that RV park kind of feel to it. You can see in the last photo the empty site next to mine with another small camper on the other side of that. The photo of the map can also give you an idea of how packed the sites are. If you are looking for some space and privacy, look into other options. If you are looking for convenience to the national park, stay here!
Medora Campground boasts a prime location near Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the charming town of Medora. With spacious sites along the Little Missouri River, it’s a tranquil spot with easy access to hiking, wildlife viewing, and the Medora Musical. Amenities are basic but sufficient, and the views of the surrounding badlands make it a picturesque choice for nature enthusiasts.
A little pricey for our taste, but the hook ups in the August heat were worth it.
A tidy easy in and out campground right in town and next to the NP. Super easy to walk over to the np or into Thiel for coffee, breakfast, dinner. Feeling adventurous go check out the Medora musical and steak fondue dinner. Totally worth it. There’s a community pool right at the campground too. Bonus!
The price for all the amenities provided was excellent! There was plenty of room for our tent and cooking set up!
The access to Theodore Roosevelt National Park is ideal as well as being able to explore the town of Medora!
It was hot during the day but the campground had plenty of shade to provide a cool place to hangout.
We did not stay here, but they allowed us to use their dump station for a $5 fee so we had the chance to take a look around. This is a great option if you cannot get a site inside the park or if you want hook ups. They have several different styles of sites from tent sites to full hook ups and cabins. Some sites were in the sun, but lots of sites had shade trees.
Accomodating
Tried to stay inside TRNP next door but learned quickly there weren’t any hookups. This place had some harsh reviews on Campendium app however we found it delightful. The biggest woe here is that the sites are extremely tight. Our site was a pull in from one road, and the neighbors sites was a pull in from the parallel road, leaving us to share space - literally two picnic tables next to one another. Other than that though, gorgeous scenery well maintained sidewalks that you can hike or bike right into town. A public dog park at the end of the street. And our section was brand new. The electric poles were new. The sewer hookup at our site seemed a bit big but we have an adapter. Overall would highly recommend if in Medora!
Friendly staff, clean bathrooms and laundry. Hot shower. Power and water. The sites are tight.
Large campground with plenty of open spots when we got there. Nice showers and bathrooms, saw two while looking for our spot. Even can fill up your propane if needed. Cute like yurt like tents shaped like covered wagons. Free WiFi. $30 for tent spot.
This is fine for a couple night's stay passing through. For the price ($60 per night) it seems like it should be better. Feels run down (except for the really nice office building), but is a large RV park that's packed. Kind of cool area close to a lot of things - probably hence the price.
This campground has about 1000 spots - and is pretty quiet given how many folks you're right next to! It's pricey, showers look nice and clean, bath house building is pretty new. Nice playground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Sites are pretty close together, but not on top of each other. Beautiful setting right next to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Near a neat town with lots of old west themed sites and activities. Most of the town and park are owned by the Medora Foundation. Looks like you can rent a cabin or a Calistoga Wagon to sleep in also. $60/nt for full hook ups.
Immediate access and walking distance to Theodore Roosevelt NP. Big open sites. Spacious. Camp store available. Had full hookups. Pretty views. We stayed early October so the buildings were closed. But we had full hookups.
We camped here two nights to visit the park. It was awful. Too close together. Couldn’t even relax outside. I have to say it was the worst campground of our two month trip. Wished we would have stayed at Cottonwood. You can use the showers here. The town itself was mostly closed up, tacky gift shops. Blah. The National park was wonderful. Do not stay here.
Space is pretty tight here. We grabbed two sites, side by side. 305 and 306. We had a 3-person tent and a small pop-up camper. Not much room at all (see photo). There was basically enough room to share a picnic table and that was it. I will say the tent camping non-electric sites were bigger and grassier. But if you need power, you're stuck in a pull-through that offers very little privacy. Also, there is not enough room for both a tent and a vehicle, so we settled on parking the long way across the back and straddled the road.
The facilities were well maintained though. Check-in was a breeze. The staff were friendly. Super convenient location to everything - national park, musical, steak fry, downtown. All very nice.
Close spots just outside of Medora and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Some spots are very close, but have stunning views of the buttes behind and the Little Missouri River. Individual showers and a real desert feel.
With mature trees near the Little Missouri River, this campground is quite lovely. Showers and utilities all available and we’ll located. The only drawback is my preference for space. The lots are small. Campers are lined up in rows which, even though efficient, don’t provide space for much activity. But who’s here for activity by the camper? Medora is a place to be explored and both the town and national park provide plenty to do.
Clean campground close to TRNP and Medora. The pool was closed when we were there after Memorial Day in near 100 deg heat. Spots are CLOSE together. It looked like some RV awnings were touching the RV next door. They weren't but it looked that closed. The staff was awesome. Access to Little Missouri Scenic River but no one was swimming and we saw a rattlesnack on the little walk to the river.
Great location! This campground isright next to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park and across the street from The Medora Musical. Restrooms & showers are clean and the have a laundry. Sites are a little tight but there are many trees. There's a camp store and community pool available to campers.
This Location is a GEM right outside the gates of Teddy Roosevelt NP! The town of Medora is a small western town and you can ride the whole town by bike from the campground in under 2 Miles. Tons of things to do and see and the wildlife is Plentiful in the park! The campground has a trail right onto the little Missouri river and leads you right under the huge walls of the NP. The Hospitality at this park was unmatched, and the facilities were also very clean. Sites are a tad tight but no need to be at the site with so much to do around. Definitely will visit again if in the area!
Overall a nice campground...clean bathrooms and shower house on Little Missouri River, less than 5 minutes from South Unit entrance. Our only complaint is the closeness of the sites. Some are so close that awnings cannot be used We were lucky that we were in the back close to the river where there are some trees. Others at the front which mostly seemed to be larger units are out in the wide open gravel almost like a parking lot. Also be aware if you travel in summer there's likely a ban on any burning. We aren't even able to use our charcoal grill because of high fire risk in the area
No problems getting a spot or checked in, had a nice pull through, and all was fine. Only critique would be there was standing water in the showers but otherwise great.
We recently stayed at Medora Campground. It was too early in the season to catch the Musical however we rode our bikes into town, the local bike shop was great, and was able to fix my husband's bike! The Campground itself is on the small side as far as sites go but they are pull-through which was convenient for our 2-night stay. We were on a long trip and were happy to see laundry available on site, everything was in working order. The bathroom was clean and the people we nice. The location is right next to the entry into Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the visitor center. If you like Mountain Biking - Check out the Maah Daah Hey trail the is just outside the town of Medora. I would recommend having someone drop you off at the trailhead.
Easy to find and close to many attractions. Quiet and comfortable sites for everything from class a to tents.
We enjoyed Medora Campground! The sites were quite small but we spent the majority of our time in town, in the National park, or at the musical. There was construction, to expand the campground, while we were there so that was loud and noisy. Bathrooms and showers were clean.
Tight fit but close to the National Park and downtown Medora.
The town of Medora truly supports the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
