Rattler Ford Group Campground

Within the Nantahala National Forest, Rattler Ford Group Campground operates as a US Forest Service facility designed for larger gatherings. The campground accommodates RVs up to 30 feet and provides both drive-in and walk-in access from March through October. Sites range from shaded spots under the forest canopy to open areas on grassy terrain.

A creek runs through the property, offering opportunities for wading and exploration. Basic amenities include drinking water, restrooms, picnic tables, and trash service, though one camper noted the restrooms could use better maintenance. The facility sits close to Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, known for its old-growth hardwood trees. Reservations are available for the $75 nightly rate, but pets are not permitted.

Conveniently Located

Such a great little campground just a stone's throw from one of the East Coast's hidden gems of majestic forests. Literally just down the road from Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, which is home to some of the largest hardwood trees in the South East. There are sites that are mostly shaded by trees or you can choose to be out on the lawn. They have a volleyball net (with ball), and a stream that will give hours of splashing and exploring for the whole family! I would give it a five but the bathrooms could stand to be better maintained. All in all, great place to camp!
