We got lucky!🎯

We were running out of steam and had nowhere to stay. We pulled into this state park, and there just so happened to be one spot left from a lucky cancelation for the night. We snatched it up! The bathrooms/showers were clean, the staff was especially nice, and the spot had a shade area, which really helped. We enjoyed rootbeer and phase 10 until the sunset, and wow, how the sky lit up! Thank goodness we received a spot with power to allow for AC all night!

Beach and regular campsite open

Visited today and seen the primitive camping area (no hookups) was currently closed. The regular campsites with full hookups was open. Maybe with weather, and less campers is the reason for closing the overflow/primitive side. Only 1 RV today and all the other sites open. Beach was crowded on both sides. Was still able to get a spot on the water and set up canopy. Still favorite spot in Laughlin/Bullhead City area.

Beautilful

Did not camp, only came for one day. But did take driving tour through the campsite. Only saw 3-4 RV’s. Maybe bc we came mid July at it was over 110 F! The river was cold but once in you acclimate. Did some snorkeling. Beautiful sandy spots. Just dont understand with all the space why some people decide to come squeeze in between you and others on the shore. Other than that had a great time. Will come again and maybe camp!

Large campsites and close to the river

Stayed here in March for 3 nights. This place was my first choice to stay, as I been here plenty of times before but never camped here. Its FCFS and the sites are usually full or nearly full. Mostly with the snowbirds during the winter months. The sites are fairly large and spaced out. They were working on extending the campgrounds to make more campsites when I stayed. This place has full hookups, which was extremely nice with a family of 3. They did have water and dumpsite near the entrance. You are a 3 minute drive to the beach/river area. The beach is nice and well maintained. There are two sides to jump into the water. There are walking trails that needed to be maintained, but this was only because there was a fire in the area some time ago. Camp host and ranger station were great and assisted with anything needed. I just wish they took reservations, as this is my favorite spot to camp in Laughlin area. Davis Dam campgrounds and Avi don't have anything on this place. Go to Avi if you want cramped, parking lot camping, or Davis if you want run down facilities. The restrooms were the cleanest I seen in a state and/or national park. Will return!

Rip Off.

Exspect to pay for any car you bring in this state park. This is a rip off park. We payed $45 for the camper truck and $25 for a car because it had az.lic. on a rental car. We could have stay at AVI for two nights at this price.

Little gem for sure

if your not familiar with Laughlin it is super hot we came in October and it was still hot as can be, not as bad as the summertime and for sure not as crowded, we came on a weekday so I do recommend coming during the week. The water is still refreshing because it's still hot as heck out there…..Ok on to the good stuff, so the beach area is amazing. honestly, it's super neat and crystal clear river water and sandy beaches. The best part of this site for sure!!!!!  the campsites are super clean, and not on the beach area in case you were wondering you can walk or drive… ok so the campgrounds have desert landscape and NO trees between spaces, clean bathrooms and showers oh and the showers cost quarters so make sure you bring them.. anyway besides desert landscaping the spaces are pretty spaced out but still NO trees, also you're super close to a major street in Laughlin so not really impressed by that, the only spot that was left was right by that and you hear cars for a good amount of our stay.

if you have the NV state park pass be prepared to pay 10 dollars additional without an RV it's one of the few places I have noticed that make you pay even if you are tent camping, so make sure you put that in your budget!!

So the grounds are dirt roads but the parking places are paved and they do have tables and awnings for each spot. some are pull through as well and like I said full hooks up and they do have a dump station right when you pull in so it's convenient for before and after dumping needs…

like I said it's hot even in October and November but it's not busy at all on the beach. Cool little gem because of the beach for sure!! Also just for extras.. raccoons, and skunks roam these areas at night so have your food and vehicles secured

cheers!

Big Bend Gem

Amazing place to set up for the day, camping is available with water and power hook-ups. We spent the day on in the beach area. Definitely a little gem on the Colorado River.

Quick Vegas Getaway

Facilities are clean and spots are plentiful May-September due to the extreme heat. All sites are pull through RV sites that easily accommodate 2-3 tents (4man). Rumors have it they are clearing sites to create a tent only section but it will not be ready until fall 2020.

Until then expect to pay the $20/night + $10 utility hookup.

Easy and pretty hiking, crowded campground

We tried to stay at the campground, but it doesn't take reservations and all the sites were full by Thursday afternoon in February. We did explore the hiking trails, which were nice sandy paths with pretty easy terrain. The river is very pretty and fast moving. It was too cold for swimming in the winter, but the beach was clean and would be great during the warmer months. The bathrooms were also clean and there were some nice picnic pavilions, which included wheelchair accessible tables. This would be a great place for a family trip, but definitely have a backup camping plan during the busy season!

Clean campground near Colorado River.

This was a small, 24-site campground near the Colorado River. The sites are not reservable so first come first served. The grounds and bathroom were clean. There are coin showers so make sure to bring quarters if you’re planning to use them. Otherwise, the river was really cool and refreshing. There were ants on our tent pad so we didn’t use the regular tent. We were one of the few tent campers, everyone else was in RV’s/trailers.

It is somewhat near the highway so you can hear cars that drive over the rumble strips from time to time (so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper).

The sites also have hookups, a grill, a fire pit and shade ramadas. There are a few bushes separating you from other campsites and they were spaced pretty decently where we didn’t hear the RV noises.

The beach area to the river was within walking distance. There are shade ramadas too and some have picnic tables. The water was very cold but refreshing.

I would camp here again in the cooler months or if I had an air conditioned rig during the warmer months. It got up to the high 90s during the day but was nice and cool late at night.

if it wasn’t for the river I’d give this campground about 3 stars because of the ants and highway noise.

(sorry for the lack of photos for the whole site)
