The Best Camping Near Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada

The campground was a pull through site making parking easier.   The RV park was very well maintained and had the cleanest bathroom / shower I have ever experienced.   There were a few small trees around the RV, yet due to the size were not helpful with shading out camper (give 'em a few years.)  There pool was immaculately cared for and a fantastic way to cool down.  There was a restaurant on site with outstanding stake and fish .  My only suggestion to better the dining experience would be that the bar attached to the dining room allowed smoking.   The dining room was separated by a glass wall and sliding door, but the smell of smoke was evident.   Overall a great site that had some exciting moments when the jets from Nellis Airforce Base would fly over.  

Hot, but great pool!

I don't drive an RV but I have moved around a larger rig before so I know that sometimes being able to get into a site is half the battle. With this park they keep that in mind and have all pull thru sites to make the journey into camp easier and your unwinding begin a bit more quickly.

I checked this site out when in Vegas and compared it to many other RV sites. While living there I often had friends who would ask about where they could come to town when vacationing in RVs but then be able to get out and do things. My best suggestion to them was find a park then take an Uber or Lyft to the strip or Fremont for the action. Keeping your home on wheels at a peaceful location allows you to rest better at night so finding a place like this is key to a great trip to Vegas within staying in a hotel or casino.

The staff here is very friendly. Since I was only going to check out the facility they offered to take me around and show me the location and told me plenty about the park and amenities. There is a special interest put on security of campers and the property is gated. They offer high speed internet and cable at each of the sites and they focus on your experience by having both a pool and fitness facility.

But they also are friendly to your pets. I think that was one of the most interesting things to me, the lady mentioned that a lot of people travel with their furry family so they wanted to accommodate them not just with their own dog run facility but also with a wash station so if it happens to be muddy they can be washed with warm water. That was pretty cool to me. All in all I really liked this place and ended up recommending it several times.

TIPS:

* If you are going to be at this location you can get both nightly and weekly rates. There are many snowbirds which choose this location as their home away from home. Prices are nightly starting at $35.

* If you are an avid golfer they have not only a putting green for you to practice but also a driving range at this location.

Pull Thru And Unwind

Would have loved to stay here but they only take 2000 and above travel trailers. We have a 1967 Airstream. 😢

No vintage Airstreams

Honestly, we chose this RV park due to proximity to the Cummins facility. I don’t believe we will choose this park again.

Pros:

Gated.
Full hookups.

Cons:

Proximity to Nellis AFB flyovers. Started at 7 am and were on/off all day. If you want a place to sleep in, this is not it. I love planes and jets, but this park is on the flight path.

Everything, except for convenience stores and gas stations, is at least 3-5 miles away: grocery stores, restaurants, etcetera. 

Bad part of town, hence the need for security gates.

A severe tire damage spike strip is installed to keep vehicles from going the wrong way. And it is at the sharp left turn to exit (with an RV space across the way). There has to be a better way.

Speed bumps are throughout park. I hate this trend.

Not necessarily big rig friendly if you have a full side slideout. Could not use awning because tree butted right up to the slide.

Okay for a few days

So this RV park also has on property a hotel, saloon, steakhouse and they have trailers for sale… so they have a lot going on. they do have a pool, fitness center, very clean restrooms for men and women, they also have a laundry room and one of the neatest things about this place was they have a dog run with a place to wash your dog it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. BONUS FOR US DOG PARENTS! So the office is open 24 hours a day, which is cool because in case you arrive at a time you’re not required to check in on your own somebody’s there to help. Oh! they do you have a golf practice facility, horseshoes and recycling bins, dumpsters, newspapers available And pay phones￼.

They offer daily and monthly rates if it’s daily you can have more than two people if it’s monthly you can only have two people stay with you they do have free Wi-Fi so that’s a bonus!

It’s nearby Nellis Air Force Base and it’s very well-kept also there’s a private security gate which is extra protection for you and your family.

they offer plenty of spots some bigger than others but you know what it’s honestly a really well-kept park super clean and super impressed they have 30 and 50 amp services ice is available storage shed rentals available Oh and not just showers but tubs they do have a heated pool that’s open year-round so you have a lot going on with this park super neat super clean very impressed. Each spot has tables too

  

Here are my star ratings based on my lifestyle and what I like. I'm also a mother, dog mama, and a wife so it's not just me it's my crew and i. 1 star- AUTOMATIC relocate… the property is no longer there, trashed or/and I could never have my children there and I wouldn't ever think about staying no matter what. 2 star- Not really my jam, and would NEVER go to again… It probably more of desert life and not really my style for sure…Being from Vegas I can't stand being in the desert and I love the Trees and the Green more than anything. 3 star- Would stay there again in a pinch, but not really my style, the reason its not is because not enough family things to do, the scenery, or the location… but I would go again and feel safe having my kiddos here but only if I needed to in a pinch. 4 star- a really good rating for sure, maybe needed some improvements, minor things like being on top of each other, not a lot of privacy, but honestly little cosmetic things that aren't anything to sweat and would be back again for sure. 5 star- MY FAVORITE… love the location, safety, the surroundings, big camp spots available to fit toys for my kids to play, hammocks to hang, our big family tent, cases of firewood, our suburban or RV, etcccccc….. I would not only come back but would live if I could!!! Anyway thanks for reading and enjoy every moment like it's your last! CHEERS!

Well kept 

We live nomadically full-time and needed to be close to the north side of town for a couple weeks without spending a gazillion dollars. This place technically got the job done.

  

Pros:  

1) Location. It was within 20 min drive of where we needed to be.  

2) The RV park has plenty of amenities, including pool, showers, restrooms, etc.  

3) Price for full hookups was fair.  

4) We appreciated the ability to checkin a little later (before 9pm).  

5) The restaurant on site is decent and serves dinner until 10pm.  

6) There's a playground close by that we could take our kids to.  

7) We could receive Amazon packages there or at the Amazon locker at the gas station around the corner.

  

Cons:  

1) Location. Flight path to Nellis AFB is directly overhead so it is LOUD. Be prepared. If possible, look up Red Flag week beforehand - if you love plane watching, that's your week. If not, or if you work fully remotely and spent most of your time on the phone, well... avoid it like the plague that week, cuz you WILL have to leave the area to get anything done.  

2) Reservation system and website. Someone needs to overhaul their web design (main menu drops down and covers 85% of things when scrolling) and get them some scheduling software. Right now you have to submit a request through their website and someone calls you to book a site, and they don't send you anything as confirmation or reference. I made reservations 1-2mo in advance and called TWICE to make sure they had a spot saved for us and was reassured they did. And of course, we got there, and they "had no record of our reservation." Thankfully, they still had a spot for us, but it took longer to get everything settled. At 8pm after 8hrs of travel and 3 small kids in the car, I was not pleased.  

3) Customer service is spotty. It depends on who you talk to.

4) Monthly rates are only for parties of 2.  

  

All in all, it was ok. Arriving was a little rough. We had what we absolutely needed and it didn't cost us an arm and a leg. Would I come back? I wouldn't refuse, but I'd look for other options first.

Meh.

2 months stay 

We called after a long road day,  Michael was so very kind. Our wishes were for a pull through, so we didn't have to unhook from truck.  The bathrooms were very nice indeed; clean and spacious.   JJ was  very patient with me and all my guestions.  I would recommend this rv park,  its off the beaten path so quiet at night.

We booked about 4months ago and were quoted$54. When we got here I was told their rates went up yesterday to$82. That's almost$30! Had I known I would have booked elsewhere. Their website still says$52. Overpriced.
