    Cozy Cabin in the Cornfields

This was a wonderful spot to visit during our trip across the country. The pet friendly cabin was a cozy air conditioned break from the August heat. The location is great and feels tucked away every though it isn't far from the highway. The staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend!

    Trade Winds

Fun, lively campground but too close together

3 miles East of Loup City is Trade Winds campground. It is privately owned so you don’t need a state pass. It has 12 cabins and 20 Rv/tent sites with electricity and shared water. The sites are very close together but have shade trees. Each site is back in with picnic bench and fire rings. There is a nice marina for food, bait, supplies. And it has a grill open on weekends. There is a coin operated shower house and laundry mat area. The Marina also has kayak, boat slip, and storage for rent. Everyone there seems to be nice. They even had a huge firework display.

    Favorite KOA

This campground is set among the corn fields. The staff was super! The pool is cool and tucked away in the back. The store sold single local beers and was open late. They were slinging hot pizza. We stayed in an air conditioned camping cabin. Super close to the pool and bathrooms! 2 of the nicest fenced dog parks of any KOA. I would definitely stay there again if driving through.

    Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins

    Awesome campground

Arrival was smooth. Parked outside of office and checked in. Was escorted to site and given a run through. Site has a slight dip but was not a big deal.

On site 12, it seems like you would need to share a fire pit and picnic table with site 13. Luckily, site 13 wasn’t ever occupied during our stay since there was a parked utility trailer there.

Pond has three paddle boats and you can fish. Water is murky and seems to only contain bluegill and bullheads. We had a lot of bites but never caught anything. Would be nice if it was stocked with more fish.

    Free firewood nightly was great.

Shop in the office contains supplies, food, and drinks. This was nice.

Camp hosts are very friendly and accommodating.

This is generally going to be a great place for campers looking to stay overnight but not really for extended stays.

    Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins

Prairie Oasis-A great place to stop over or spend a little time

This campground is a really nice campground right off Interstate 80. The owners live on site and take pride in their business and it shows. The campground is well kept, and the bathrooms/shower house has been remodeled and was immaculate. The sites are gravel, level, and good size. They offer tent camping, Electric and water, or full hook-ups. The sites are pull thru which is always nice. There are fire rings and picnic tables scattered throughout the sites.

We were at a sight closest to the pond, which I loved because I could walk my pups down to the pond and sit at the yard swing and just relax. I thought the interstate would be really noisy but the trees muffle the sound and you really don't hear it. There was even free paddle boats to use for the pond. We also played horseshoes. They also had many other Yard Games to play, a Sand Volleyball Pit, a Sand Box with toys, and a swing set.

The owners were very sweet and Patty brought us fresh baked cookies-something no other campgrounds has ever done and something I will never forget. They also give you your first bundle of firewood free. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and we did. We will definitely be coming back here.

    WoW Stay!

We needed a quick 'pit stop' stay on our way to Colorado. We chose this one because it was one of the few open KOAs during the COViD scare, and we simply needed a basic cabin to rest for one night. We arrived late, and were very impressed with the very organized system for getting our key/campground map, and found the super clean cabin near the 'private' (access code required) bathrooms. We woke in the morning to a gorgeous sunrise coming up over the newly planted corn field. It was SPECTACULAR! We had a chance to walk around and noticed just how immaculate everything was kept. The pool looked perfectly clear and I just can't say enough. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    KEEP DRIVING!!!

DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCREAMED AT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR SNEEZING!!! No joke!!! Very sweet owners, when taking your money. But when my youngest son ran a fever of 104 shortly after we got there at 8:00 p.m., and we had to take him to the ER, the owners actually came out of their house at midnight and yelled at us for "slamming our car door". I tried to apologize and explain the situation the next morning and there was no empathy what so ever! In stead, we got blamed for "making a huge mess in their public restroom". WE WERENT EVEN THERE LONG ENOUGH TO USE THEIR RESTROOM, NOR WOULD WE HAVE AS WE HAVE OUR OWN IN OUR MOTORHOME!!! Just weary travelers trying to get some rest. Not loud, obnoxious, didn't even sit at the picnic table. Didn't have time before we were run out. FOR SURE, two elderly people who SHOULD NOT be in business running a customer service establishment!!! If you want my advice, KEEP DRIVING!!!

    Close sites, well maintained

We stayed here in June. The tent sites are very close in proximity- your conversation quickly becomes your neighbors conversation. Tent sites are pull-up which is convenient. There are RVs behind and away from the tent sites (mostly RVs here with about 10 tent sites). We met some great tent neighbors & had nice conversation. One tent neighbor was extremely disruptive (left their dog tied up crying at the site- did not give the dog water the whole time they were there which was 12 hours- It was sad- they were also all around loud and inconsiderate). Other than those neighbors all was good. Laundry on site so bring quarters. Showers are clean enough. Bathrooms are a close walk to tent sites. Not much at the camp store (they were out of a lot of stuff their site says they have & we're not making food either), but they did get an ice delivery when we were there which was helpful. We planned to cook at our site anyway- but it was inconvenient for some families relying on their pizza for dinner. Great sunset views over the cornfield from the tent sites !!!

Guide to Alda

Cabin rentals near Alda, Nebraska provide lodging options within an agricultural landscape dominated by cornfields and prairie. The area sits at approximately 1,900 feet elevation with a continental climate featuring hot summers and cold winters. Most cabin facilities operate seasonally from April through October when temperatures range from 60-90°F during peak travel months.

What to do

Water recreation options: Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins features a small pond with free paddle boats for guests to use. "Beautiful park right off I-80, very well maintained, does not have any long term tenants which is a big plus for us," notes Steve W. The pond offers a peaceful setting with wildlife viewing opportunities.

Wildlife watching: Grand Island KOA provides natural areas where children can observe local wildlife. "Our 3 year old spent most of the evening catching toads," shares Jared C. about his family's experience at this cabin location. The surrounding cornfields support various small animals and birds.

Evening relaxation: Seasonal campfires are permitted at most cabin locations with firewood available for purchase. "Patty and Todd are awesome hosts. It was near freezing when we stayed, so the free firewood helped keep us warm!" reports Aaron about his stay at Prairie Oasis. Some properties offer complimentary first bundles of firewood with cabin rentals.

What campers like

Clean facilities: The shower and restroom buildings at Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins receive consistent praise for cleanliness. "The bathrooms were clean with nice hot showers," notes Angela G. Cabin guests appreciate access to well-maintained central facilities when cabin units lack private bathrooms.

Swimming pool access: Seasonal outdoor pools provide relief during Nebraska's hot summer months. "Pool was chilly but nice after a long day of driving," says Amy J. about her experience at Grand Island KOA. Pools typically operate from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend depending on weather conditions.

Convenient interstate access: The central Nebraska location makes these cabins practical for travelers. "Easy on/off from I-80. Clean spots and level pads. Registration was very easy. Nice overnighter," writes Pete M. regarding his stay at Grand Island KOA. Most cabin properties sit within 5 miles of major highway exits.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most cabin facilities close during winter months. Pioneer Village Campground operates with limited availability during shoulder seasons. "The camp hostess was friendly and helpful. The campgrounds were quiet and well shaded. The bathrooms were old, but clean," shares Roger J. about his September stay.

Site spacing variation: Some locations place cabins close together while others offer more separation. "Great campground other than you are on top of your neighbors. Thought we might not be able to open our awning, only about 3 to 4 feet between sites," comments Mary T. about her Grand Island KOA experience.

Dog policies: Most cabin facilities accommodate pets with specific rules. Grand Island KOA provides dedicated pet areas according to Dawn I., who noted they have "2 of the nicest fenced dog parks of any KOA." Additional pet fees typically apply at most cabin rentals, averaging $10-15 per stay.

Tips for camping with families

Child-friendly amenities: Trade Winds cabins provide access to marina facilities and weekend dining options. "There is a nice marina for food, bait, supplies. And it has a grill open on weekends," reports Shannon G. The property also offers water activities suitable for older children.

Playground access: Several cabin locations maintain playground equipment for younger guests. "There is lots to keep kids busy," notes Jared C. about Grand Island KOA. Most play areas are centrally located within walking distance from cabin units.

Seasonal considerations: Summer heat requires planning for families staying in basic cabins without air conditioning. "I was surprised how quiet the sites were with it being so close to I80," mentions Jared C., highlighting that road noise rarely disturbs family sleep despite proximity to highways.

Tips from RVers

Check cabin furnishings: Confirm what items are included with cabin rentals as provisions vary significantly between locations. "This campground is set among the corn fields. The staff was super! We stayed in an air conditioned camping cabin. Super close to the pool and bathrooms!" shares Dawn I. about Prairie Oasis RV Park.

Cabin alternatives: RVers note that during peak times cabins book quickly. "Older park but don't let that fool you. The owners are doing a great job maintaining the park," mentions James R. about Prairie Oasis RV Park. Many locations offer both RV sites and cabins within the same property.

Weather preparedness: Nebraska weather can change rapidly during spring and fall months. "A good choice for a stop along the way. Watch the spring time weather though, it can get nasty!" advises Angie S. Cabins provide more protection than tents during sudden storms but may lack heating during shoulder seasons.
