A hike over Pyramid Pass leads to this dispersed camping area beside Pyramid Lake in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. The US Forest Service manages this free site within Flathead National Forest, requiring campers to pack in all gear on foot. Cell reception remains spotty along the shoreline.
The trail represents one of the shorter access routes to backcountry lakes in the Bob Marshall, though the climb over the pass still demands preparation. Bears frequent the area, making proper food storage essential. Campers can build fires and bring pets, but must carry out all waste. For those wanting vehicle access, Big Larch Campground offers developed sites southwest of the trailhead.
