Spacious cabin off the beaten path

Nice spacious log cabin with plenty of room to roam/hike in the area. Beds for up to 8 people, wood stove and firewood on site (firewood not guaranteed). Large open floorplan (takes awhile to warm up when it's cold out though…).

Nice updated BLM campground.

Nice BLM campground, no beach/swim area on-site, have to walk .5 mile trail to Clarks Bay day use for swimming. Great for RVs, no shade for tents (trees are too young and provide no shade yet). Boat ramp area is small.

Easier mountain lake hike

Around 7 miles one way to the lake, only gain 3000ft over the course of the hike with around 1000ft of elevation gain in last mile. Scenic mountain meadows lots of vegetations, creek nearby for a good portion of the hike.

Nice mountain lakes

About 5 miles one way to Peterson lake, anither 1 and 2 miles to Duffy and Holloway lakes above Peterson. Nice secluded valley heading into Bitteroot-Selway wilderness. You gain around 1700ft in elevation before dropping down around 800ft into the first lake.

Amazing Alpine Lake

Nonresident reservation conservation permit required, available at fwp.mt.gov

Accessed by mission falls trailhead, trail is steep and unmaintained after you reach the waterfall. Steep, rugged country with little evidence of people. Amazing fishing, great views. Short hikes to other high mountain lakes. Be wary of Grizzlies in late July/August during moth hatch!!*

Peaceful Alpine Lake

Long climb up the trail over Pyramid Pass to access the lake but its worth it. One of the shortest hikes to get in to a lake in the BobMarshall.
Spotty cell reception on shore of lake. Wonderful views, lots of wildlife (including bears…).

Great Backcountry Lake

Awesome lakento hike into, best accessed during summer after snow has melted. Trail that descends the steep grade down to the lake is not horse friendly, difficult for those who struggle with steep terrain.

Numerous primitive campsites around west shore of lake, old growth grove at base of cliff is fun to explore. Burned remains of Boulder Lookout sits at the top of the cliff overlooking the lake. Awesome views to take in. There was a pair of loons mesting at the lake when we visited a few years ago.

Great for RVs

Recently renovated, campground is really clean and spread out. Little to no shade for tent campers and bugs get horrible. Small store makes for easy extended stays.

Primitive Dispersed Site

Nice area above shoreline with some shade trees for tents and enough flat area to pull a camper in. Good for day trips, group gatherings too.

Great Dispersed campground

A couple primitive pad sites with fire rings otherwise plenty of space for dispersed camping close to beach (mostly rocks/mud). Great views and good for group gatherings/fishing. Does get windy being on the east side of the lake, can watch the ice sheets pile up in late fall.

Great cabin

Gast stove for cooking, wood stove for heat. Shed full of wood, fire pit and vault toilet. Beware of mice nests, otherwise cabin was great. Hiking trail right by the cabin, even found some huckleberry nearby.

Tucked away campground

Small campground tucked away from highway. Right on shore of river/resevoir. Heavily used train tracks on opposite shore, so you get some train noise but not horrible. Bugs can get nasty with the slow water. Good fishing area.

Rustic Cabin

Cozy forest service cabin, wood stove for heat. Close to highway, so there's road noise but creek and cliffs make it relaxing to sit outside. (Families with small children beware of Proximity to highway).

Cozy Cabin

Cozy Cabin near Lincoln. Great for families with small children (be bear aware though). Small secluded lake nearby for relaxed swimming.

Court Sherriff Campground

Great campground with mix of sites and day use. Lots of shore access for swimming and fishing.

Small campground with road noise

Small campground, right off highway, fair amount of road noise. Great access for hunting, skiing, snowmobiling.

Good beach area

Beach are is nice, campground is spread out with mix of day use and camp sites. Lacking some shade for some sites. Popular day use area for locals.

Great campground

Quiet secluded area. Camp sites have good space. Group site picnic shelter are suitable for 10-20. Boat ramp is in good condition , plenty of space to beach boats for parking.

Good lake access

Day use area is nice. Good variety of camp sites for both RV and tent, boat dock charges fees but is convenient and popular.

Good campground for RV

Good campground for RVs, gets windy and not much shade for tent campers.
