Beautiful Lakefront Camping

Arrived here late after finding no sites at Mouth of the Two Hearted. Found an excellent tent site that comfortably accommodated 2 tents and a sleeping hammock. Site also had beach access so our kayaks could launch easily. There seemed to be to be a decent number of fishermen in the morning, but our own fishing attempts were unsuccessful.

Bodi Lake trail looked interesting, but my feet were killing me from hiking Taquamenon earlier that day, and we were eager to get back to 2 Heart. Looking forward to coming back at a future date to try it out.

Off the beaten path

Great campground on a lake perfect for lots of water sports. Bathrooms were clean and most sites are on the lake. The hiking trail is a bit overgrown and goes through a swampy area with lots of mosquitoes. Beware that the route to get here is on a dirt road, heavily washboarded and took us about 30-40 minutes from the main highway. Otherwise an amazing secluded camping area!

Nice secluded rustic spot

I stayed at Bodi Lake on 9/23/21 in site 11. It was a nice secluded site not far from the vault toilets and quiet which is always a plus. The only downside to my stay and a warning to those who may be planning to visit is that it rained heavily and the site flooded very quickly. I've camped other places in the rain but this was the worse I've experienced in terms of flooding. Not knocking the campground in any way, just saying that if you are tent camping and rain is in the forecast, maybe don't pick site 11. I can see why they don't, but it would be nice if the SFC's had raised tent pads like some other campgrounds.

Quiet

Quiet campground tucked way back in. Most sites have lake access. All have fire pits. Vault toilets. Hiking trails are right there. Fresh blueberries on trail.

Secluded and gorgeous, no longer free but worth it!

This campground is just as remote as others have mentioned. No cell service, miles of dirt roads winding through old farmland and logging roads, and an incredible view of the Crisp Point Lighthouse if you're equipped to make it down the 12mi dirt/sand mixed-vehicle road (I made it with a minivan, but it was real hairy in some spots). Camp itself is right on Bodi Lake with some secluded sites and some closer together that would be good for a group. I was the only person in the campground all weekend. Also, this camp is no longer free and costs $15/night with an additional recreation fee for vehicles (first come, first serve).

Off the grid!

Small campground in the middle of the trees! Had vault toilets and potable water pumps. Great lake with a boat launch.

A terrific find

We have been up to this area a handful of times and usually stay at the nearby Cullhan Lake State forest campground. But this trip we happened to stumble on Bodi Lake and decided to switch it up. I REALLY liked this place. A beautiful lake with looks and gorgeous sunrise/sunsets. The sites are large and most provide very good privacy from your neighbors. The toilets were clean and the picnic tables and fire rings were in very good shape. We also happened to be the only people in the campground other than one other single women. Which was amazing because it was almost deafeningly quiet in the morning and it was so peaceful. I loved this campground and I will absolutely be back.

Absolutely Rustic and Amazing

If you’re one who likes the thrill of winding backroads and wants to be away from all the noise and commotion of the city this is your spot. I took my friends on a loop through the UP this past June and they made me plan another one because they loved it so much. Bodi Lake Campground is off of a dirt road that is about 35 minutes from Tahquamenon State forest, 30 min from crisp point lighthouse (you can climb to the top and had a beautiful view), and about 2 hours from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This campground is my favorite so far because it’s right on the lake which you are able to kayak, or canoe on, has beautiful sunrises/sunsets, and is very remote. This campground also includes fire pits, toilets, and is very spacious. You are close enough to your “neighbors” but still have privacy. There are no water hookups, showers, or anything larger than tents. This campsite is a drive up, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE because it is free. No reservations are taken. This campsite is run by an older couple during the summer months. They gave us a couple of brochures and are happy to answer any questions you have! They are the reason we found the lighthouse! Overall this is a GREAT place to stay and I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

Simple Campground

This is a simple drive in campground on a lake with a small dock and access for backing a boat trailer into the water. I stayed here after arriving too late to get a campsite on a Saturday evening in the summer to the very popular nearby Mouth of the Two Hearted River Campground that I was hoping to stay at. There's a pump for water and simple pit toilets onsite. The campsites are close together with basically no privacy, but the neighbors were quiet. Great stargazing off the dock and a lovely sunrise over the lake in the morning!
