Kentucky Back Country
Really nice, large sites, beautiful location, remote.

Found the perfect spot for our trailer and our friends car camping. Clean vault toilets. Each site has fire ring and picnic table. Pack in pack out even though some didn’t get the memo yet park service was there in the morning to clean. Limited to no cell service.
We’ve been here for a day trip but finally went out to camp this month: loud campers, generators running all night, and a creepy Town Car driving through at midnight. We’ll keep the visits to the day.
We finally made it hear this spring and as long as you enjoy tent camping and no RVs this is your place. We’ll be back!
Beautiful remote location. Great moderate hiking trails. Clean 🚻.
Nice FS campground. The hill mentioned is not what I’d call steep, but long and gradual. Maybe not good for fifth wheels as there are some turns that would be difficult for such a rig. Definitely do not want to camp here during heavy rains/high water.
All tent pad sites with fire ring/grill and lantern hook. Vault toilets are available. No garbage pickup so pack it out!! Hiking and fishing are done activities
We stayed here for the first time this past weekend. Awesome campsites and extremely well maintained. It’s pack in pack out but that’s no problem. The only word of caution I would give is the low water crossing. If a big storm came through you could be stuck in or out.
Turkey Foot Campground in McKee KY off of highway 587 is perfect for campers who like to rough it, but also likes to have a labratory near by. This is a free campsite with no electricity available. My kind of camping!
There is a river with in walking distance of all campsites for swimming, fishing and river walking!
For a free campsite this was very well maintained. There’s a privy near the campsites and a creek the runs nearby. All sites have fire rings and lamp post along with picnic tables. Tent pads are also located at each site with room for a vehicle or small camper. Be aware that one of the entrances is blocked off due to a mud slide so make sure to check ahead for directions and updates on road closures.
Came to this park because we wanted to check out the hiking trail system. Great hike :) We stumbled upon the campground here- didn't know there was one! Small campground, less than 20 sites, and it is not a busy campground. Quiet, secluded, and small are all good aspects of a campground :) Bathrooms are just pit toilets, but they were decently maintained and just added to the 'nature' experience. In addition to the features mentioned above, this is a free campground! Nice place to get away :)
