Season spot maybe?

I came for a 4th of July weekend tent camping one year. In my humble opinion I experienced a party type atmosphere with a bunch of season rv type campers. Tight group of people who spend the summers there. If you have a golf cart it seemed popular. Just not our cup of tea but, if it's yours it…

Wonderful area.

This was a great little campground, very laid back, we came memorial day weekend. It was quiet, relaxing, and very well maintained. 1 trash area, 4 porta Potties for use for the campground. You can rent kayaks for the day, fish, wade in the river (no swimming). You get to see tugboats and barges…

Nice smaller campground

This campground was clean and very well taken care of. It’s small and some of the sites are small so big campers on some sites could be an issue. Some of the sites are weird and literally just along the roadside in the campground. Sites had a bit of space and growth between them so they felt a…

Great to be back! Land is beautiful

We had four sites on Osage loop for tent camping.  Two were very small (14&15), and little grass for tent setup, fine for RV or trailer campers.  They were private with brush between sites.  16&17 were amazing for tents!!  Open, tall trees for our tight rope and hammocks and shade. Grass…

Walk-in camping within sight of homes but along a great bike path

I'm betting that this was a beautiful place in its day. When we visited, it was an ok place to walk around but it could just be that it didn't start popping this early in the spring.

You definitely need to walk a bit from the parking lot. The sign says to follow the path but at the end of it…

  • Turn left at the end of the service path to find the camping area. It's a bit of a walk.
  • The park extends quite far and is a nice area to walk around.
  • I'm not sure what this is but you can contemplate it's design while camping nearby :)

Great spot not far from the city

Easy reservations and check-in. We used the primitive spots and were a short walk from the bathrooms. Lots of hiking and mountain biking trails in the area.

Our go-to campground

Love this place. Quiet campground with plenty of room between you and your neighbors. It’s a dark sky park so you can get some nice views from the campground and surrounding areas. Hosts and forest preserve employees keep the grounds up nicely. Three lakes to fish for the small and big kids alike.…

Pretty spot/small gravel campsites

Il start this by saying: we prefer tent camping/primitive/atleast semi isolated spots. If you’re looking for RV camping, this is probably a decent spot so read no further!

We drove in to the Middle Fork Forest Preserve looking for a place to camp same day on our way down to Giant City. We weren’t…

Great find!!

Great spot for an end-of-summer trip. Arrived on Sunday and nearly had the place to ourselves. Campgrounds are far removed from town and very quiet, large enough to feel isolated. Host sells ice and firewood for a reasonable price. Campsites are well-sized and offer grills and electrical outlets.…

Not good

Of all the KOA's so far on my journey was the worst. Not really the campground owners fault for the most part. Stayed on a Friday night, knowing I needed a rest in the trip, booked about 5 days in advance in app. First the camp store really had nothing, second there were some kind of car races…

Beautiful, Friendly & Outdated

We tent camped with 8 small kiddos. One if the largest tent sites I’ve been on. There is a small playground, and a pond for swimming and fishing. This campground gets stars from me for the gorgeous and peaceful surroundings, as well as very friendly staff. However, their two flushing toilets and…

We love this place with three kids under 7!

We camp here at least 2 times per year and have only had good experiences. Clean facilities, good hikes and good campsites (either in the woods or out of the woods). Highly recommend.

Don’t Want a Pricey Chicago Hotel? Come Here!

$20. Yes, it’s an hour from the city, but I’d take the drive over the bill at a nearby hotel. There’s an outhouse and plenty of places to plug in the RV, and cars/tents are welcome too. If you’ve had an expensive, fun day in the city and can stay awake for the drive back out here, it’s a perfect…

Several Safety Concerns

We decided to spend the weekend here because I had a client meeting at sunrise the first morning of our stay in downtown Chicago. It saved me making a 3 hour drive the morning of. When we got here, we realize the electric sites on the right side of the bathhouse were in full sun, but the staff…

Very little shade, but great mountain bike trails

We stayed here for two nights recently. This is our second time staying at this campground...we also stayed here in 2019. Our camp site was #2. For the most part, all of the 30/50 amp sites are very similar. Can't really say one appears to be better than the rest. Sites # 4 and 5 probably have the…
