Nice campground and just $10/night

Has a bathroom, picnic tables, fire ring and grill. No water this time of year but the lake can be accessed at the nearby boat ramp. Beautiful lake and forest. Have the place to myself for the most part at this time of year. Often in the 30s at night but nice in daytime

Can’t wait to go back

Woodring campground is now one of my favorites. Beautiful lake views and access, great variety of hiking trails.

I am driving a 34’ class a and pulling a 16’ car trailer and was able to squeeze into this campground (barely). Had electric and water hookups. Water pressure is great coming from the faucet. Shaded, paved sites. Did not use the bathrooms but they looked decent, like a public restroom. The drive into the campground is about 5 mikes from the main state road. I wouldn’t recommend inexperienced drivers with large trailers.

Peaceful, nice site.

We stayed at site 29 in the middle of June. Site 29 is on the peninsula, near the end. It is caddy corner from the beach swimming area and very close walking distance. You cannot see the site from the beach area or vice versa. The sites are close together, but not necessarily on top of one another. You are on the water, but there it is a cliff at the edge of water, but can be climbed with rope if careful. The parking pad was level and there was water and multi service electric. The bathrooms and showers were a bit of a walk, but they were clean and cared for.

Private Island

Private little strip that jetties toward the water. Definitely will return.

Friendly and Beautiful Scenary

The campground staff were very friendly. We pulled up to our campsite and there was already firewood and it was very clean. The lake was so clean and clear. You could see the bottom in some parts. Would highly recommend d this site and will be back in the future.

Love!

Loved this campground. Site was right on the water, just had to climb down a fairly steep hill. There is a swim beach but it’s closed currently due to covid. Bathhouse was clean, has 2 showers available. The lake is clear and scenery is awesome. If you have a boat, there is a boat dock and several of the sites you can tie your boat up right next to them. Staff was friendly.

Great family camping

A great COE campground. Staff is very polite and friendly. Easy access sites but some are close together with lots of trees on beautiful Carters Lake in the north Georgia mountains.

Really nice

I love this army corps of engineer park. It lies 3 miles in of the main road. Their are two campgrounds here. One is primitive with vault toilets and one water source. Each site has four ring, and picknick table. There are several nice campsites around the shore line. Steep trails down to Lake at the end of pavement. Some parking there also. Pay for these spots furthur into the park at an atm type pay per campsite machine. Follow signs to public boat launch. As of 2019 8$ for primitive camp, 5$ parking at boat launch.

Official Campground with hookups 22$ and up, and a boat launch with dock. Some sites are more private than others, bath and showers, few have steep trails to lake. There is a nice beach with sand and swimming area. Also tent camping sites right above the swim area for 18$. The sunset view from there is very nice. There's benches!

This lake has heavy boat traffic, lots of fisherman and jet skies. During the week, it's quite. A really nice place to visit. I SUP along the shoreline and in coves, but lots of chop on the weekends.

Also many trails for hiking, tho I've not hiked there.

Spot On The Lake

This area is really clean! And for a family that camps alot that's a big deal. They have a range of camping options. They are either right on the water or about a 100yd walk away. Would recommend for anyone wanting a nice view of the lake

Nice big tent sites

this campground is higher up in elevation in relation to the region. We stayed in a tent site that had a nice trail to the lake which was rocky with no beach but fun for older kids to swim. It is also close to the Cartecay River where you can rent tubes or kayaks for a short trip down the river with a shuttle.
