Beautiful site

This was our 2nd time at this campsite. We didn’t get the site we wanted but were only 2 away. It was a little longer walk to the water and when a camper was next to us we couldn’t see the lake. We already have our reservations for 2025 in the site we wanted. I can’t wait to get back to Georgia!!

Nice place to stay

We stayed in site 7 and we really enjoyed it. The site was clean and the pad was very level.

We had a minor issue popping the 30amp breaker but switched over to the 50 amp adapter and all worked fine.

Didn’t use the bath house but I did go check them out and they looked clean.

I would caution big rigs on the first loop (sites 2 - 9) the loop at the back is pretty tight. We did fine with our 28’ TT but anyone over 30’ might want to consider the other loops.

Driving through and looking at the other sites some of the picnic areas need to be reworked or at the very least mowed and weeded. If it wasn’t for that sort of stuff I would give it 5 stars.

Nice CoE campground

Always a pleasant stay at Bolding Mill. Site 11 is tight and you will scrap backing in and leaving because of the incline. Acorns falling from the trees will try and take you out of your not careful. Only thing I hate is that they lock the gates for both inbound and outbound at night.

Run down and neglected

We have camped here many times and was totally shocked at what condition the campground was in. Grass not mowed, trash left on campsites for a week. There was also a very unsafe situation where homeless people would move from site to site and leave a trail of trash behind them. The host were extremely nice but also frustrated by what the COE is doing to the campgrounds.

Nice COE campground

Short visit for the weekend but very nice campground. Gate attendants were very friendly. Facilities were standard but clean. Dump station was closed. Overall would deft recommend and be back.

Labor Day Weekend on Lake Lanier

We stayed here for 3 nights in sight 94. We enjoyed our stay but felt the campground could have been better maintained. There were 2 dump stations but one was closed. We thought our site was supposed to have a sewer hookup but either it was backed up or it wasn’t a hookup because when we tried to dump the tanks the waste came gushing back out. The other dump station apparently had 2 areas for dumping but there were several people waiting in line to dump so we just left without emptying our tanks. The bathhouses at the park were very clean and well maintained. There was a laundry area available as well. Firewood and ice was available for purchase at the gate house but there was no other store available onsite. The playground was very dated and included an old metal swing, volleyball net and basket ball goal. The grass around many of the sites was very overgrown and in need of cutting. The grass directly around the playground areas had been cut and there were paths cut through the grass to these areas but the surrounding grass was in need of cutting. There was a swimming “beach” which was made of concrete and seemed to me to be a safety hazard. The area beneath the water was coated in a muddy slimy film which was very slick. I actually wore my flip flops to swim in to keep from slipping down or touching the stuff. The area was surrounded by a floating barrier enclosing the designated swimming section and was actually very small. There was a boat ramp and most people brought their own boats and got in the water elsewhere. There was also a nice fishing pier and a small hiking loop to get to it. Overall we enjoyed the stay but would probably try a different campground next time.

Simple, Quiet Lake Lanier camping

Basic campground on Lake Lanier, well kept & clean. Very quiet, but we were there mid week-although in the middle of summer. I suspect it’s because you can’t access the water very easily & when you do-it’s muddy shorelines.
Great for its pretty wooded private sites but not ideal to enjoy getting in the lake. (At least not in our loop). It’s dated, basketball court in bad shape, not really a playground-just swings I think. A fine stay, but not my first pick to enjoy Lake Lanier in the summer.

Waterfront Lake Sidney Lanier

Bolding Mill campground is a hidden gem, a US Army Corps of Engineers standout. Almost every site is lake front. Much of the surrounding area is undeveloped, so views are natural and pristine. Miles of walking & hiking trails, separate sandy beach area. Picnic tables & fire pits at every site. Firewood $5 per bundle, sold at entry gate. Plenty of space between campsites. Restrooms are clean. A separate sandy beach includes a swimming area sectioned-off from boats by rope float. Lots of resident vultures at the swimming area, so keep your picnic food in a sealed container. Lake water is cold, so floaties are best to keep at least part of your bod out of water and in sun. Muddy bottom. Water visibility not great, so don’t drop anything you care about! Only downside: no camp store, and no community or shop nearby. So bring everything you hope to cook/eat/use or you’re out-of-luck for your stay- or unhooking for an errand-run drive at least 30 mins away.

Great views on a loud lake

Stayed here two nights at site 33. This is the south most site on the peninsula and gives 180 degree water views. Also in the tent-only section, so a little separation from the RVs.

These grounds are well maintained, but not much space and no privacy to speak of on the peninsula. But the views are nice.

Just keep in mind that this lake is very popular with boats, and boats and jet skis are buzzing past all the time, even into the evening. This is a party lake, not a secluded retreat lake.

That in mind, would definitely come back.

Gorgeous view of Lake Lanier

Our site had a beautiful view of the water and awoke to sun on the water. Very few mosquitos and lovely weather. Long parking pad for RVs, tho' ours is a 17' travel trailer. Our site was near access to walk-in camping (which did not turn out to be a problem since we set up facing the water) and a long walk to the bathroom, which was reasonably clean with hot shower but no electrical outlet for my hair dryer (but hey, we were camping). Gate is locked at 10:30 PM; after that you have to park outside the entrance and walk to your site. Even with park full for weekend, it didn't feel crowded. Folks were friendly; almost everyone we passed said hi.

Wish it was open year round

Stayed in October next to the water. It was peaceful until the second night when 2 families of tent campers came and played music and talked until 1 am. But we liked it and the kids liked the pier and the water is nice for kayaking. Booked next trip already in April.

Great Lake Campsites

This quiet campground is ten minutes from town. Most sites are on the water, tho the water is not easily accessible from the sites. The views are fabulous. There's a boat landing. The playground is crummy. Bathhouses fine! There are several spots to get down and into the lake for a swim. Very well maintained. Most sites are secluded from neighbor. Several pull thrus. Deer and egrets and bluebirds.
