We stayed in a Pull Through, Full Hookup site on the hillside. It was surprisingly very level. We just used this as a base for visiting Natural Bridge State Park, so it was only an overnighter.
The bathrooms & private showers were amazing & clean. The laundry room looked just as nice, but we didn’t use it.
We didn’t use the pool, but the kids enjoyed the Gameroom!
Of everything we used there, the only thing to mention that was dirty was the game room. But I’ll take that, we were very impressed with the playground, dog park & they even had chickens & a petting farm upon entry.
This KOA seriously restored my faith in KOA’s. I will renew our membership, (which is about to expire), based on this visit. There are great ones out there!
This place is perfect as an overnight stop, as it is right off I-85 north of Charlotte, NC. We booked it online last minute, while driving & let ourselves in that evening (everything is clearly marked).
The laundry & bathrooms are immaculate!! They looked to be adding on another bathhouse & more sites behind it.
The playground area is dated but still retro-fun for the kids.
There was a pool, but we didn’t get to use it.
My interaction with the staff was brief, but she was very nice!
I wouldn’t say a destination, but well worth it for an overnight with kid activities & super clean facilities to use!
Basic campground on Lake Lanier, well kept & clean.
Very quiet, but we were there mid week-although in the middle of summer. I suspect it’s because you can’t access the water very easily & when you do-it’s muddy shorelines.
Great for its pretty wooded private sites but not ideal to enjoy getting in the lake. (At least not in our loop).
It’s dated, basketball court in bad shape, not really a playground-just swings I think.
A fine stay, but not my first pick to enjoy Lake Lanier in the summer.
We’ve been here twice now. It’s a fun location, even without having a boat on the lake. Most sites have lake access so you can swim or float right there, plus have some wooded privacy from neighbors.
Site 38 is very open but huge! And you’re right by the campground beach area.
Site 22 is very secluded in a wooded loop, a little above the lake. You can walk down to see an amazing sunset from this side & there’s a tiny semi-private beach area.
Site 28 is semi-private but right next to a mini beach/cove area.
All 3 sites had redeeming qualities.
I believe there’s only 2 laundry machines in the whole campground. But it’s not a large campground & most people are definitely week-enders.
Great, simple, inexpensive campground to enjoy Lake Lanier.
This campground has a great rural state park vibe. If you’re weekending -it’s nice. The sites are pretty private & woodsy. Kids can ride bikes everywhere, play some putt-putt or on the playground, go fishing or take them to the lake beach (just a short drive away-5 minutes).
If you’re into golf-looks like a nice course.
If you’re planning to remote work from here-forget it. We had absolutely no service, even weak cell service. You’re also away from town/groceries/restaurants.
Bottom line is it’s a fun place to weekend/feel pretty remote but not ideal for full timers who still work/school online.
We stayed here just a couple of nights. It was perfect for that-a quick stop through. The office staff is very nice & incredibly accommodating. Super friendly people! The bathhouse & laundry facilities are super clean!
It’s quiet (other than road traffic-2 lane country road) & well taken care of property.
Our site (12) was an easy pull through right by an exit.
If you’re traveling with kids though-there’s not much to do other than bike through campground or fish in the pond. But locally there are parks & playgrounds.
Perfect for a 1 night stop. It’s definitely catered more to the Senior crowd (they had Bingo the night we were there & there seemed to be regular activities-Bible Study, etc). Everyone was very welcoming. Our kids enjoyed the exceptionally clean pool. And the bathrooms were spotless. You can tell they take pride in the place. I also noticed they have a food truck night (Friday-maybe?). The sites are in full sun, but many many pull through sites that are big rig friendly. No fire pits or grills though. We had a great quick stay!
