Good for florida

Waze, google, and Apple Maps are all wrong. To get to the camp site:

  1. go to the Circle K linked below

https://goo.gl/maps/qCoojcRZWhjXTjC77

  1. use google maps walking directions to get to Flying Eagle Preserve. Essentially just head east down Eden Dr across the bike path and keep going straight

Definitely an “is what it is” spot, similar to the rest of Florida camping

Campgrounds were clean when I was there and the portable toilets were being refreshed once every couple of weeks

Assuming the other campers are considerate (not a given in these free water management lands in my experience), the only noise pollution is from air boats on the nearby swamp river, but this dies down at maybe 10 or 11 pm ET and mostly only on weekend nights

Not much to do and underwhelming scenery (again, Florida camping, you’re there for 50 degree winter nights, not the dramatic vistas) but plenty of land to run and hike about on. This is probably the best free water management site I’ve stayed at so far. I’ve been pretty severely irritated in one way or another by the others I’ve been able to get reservations on

Beautiful, secluded, and free (with reservation)

You make a free reservation and receive the gate code to get in. We had a wonderful time and ran into very few people. Pretty much the only thing we heard were airboats. We will definitely go back! Lots and lots of books though make sure you use protection.

GPS had a hard time getting there so I am going to include directions it's super easy.. not so much if you follow Google though! Google will try to have you going through roads that don't go through.

There is a circle k on highway 41, the street light right there is Eden if you follow that street it turns into moccasin slough. Go all the way till you run out of concrete.. then keep going straight down the dirt road it is very dusty keep it slow. Approximately 10 minutes from circle k to the gate.. all on the same road. I guess Google does not believe that road goes through but it does.

Privacy awaits

Stayed here on 3 seperate occasions. Each time not a single soul to be found with the exception of the passing airboats. Site was very spacious and private. Port a potty was kept extremely clean. Will definitely stay again.
