Magic Camp
Such a nice change of pace from the usually hotel stays on our family trip to Disney World! All the accommodations you would expect from Disney. Cabin, tent, or RV with restaurant, lake and family Disney moving showing on the big screen!
Where dreams come true
This is Walt Disney World where “dreams come true!” Huge resort with paved roads and pads. Wooded and a bit close together, FHU 50A. Great place to ride bikes. Several pools throughout the resort. Laundry in the bathhouse. We were in site 1612 which is on the easy side of a curve to back into. Ferry ride to the Magic Kingdom and Monorail there to other Disney Parks. Nice free public transportation to get around.
Average campground, lots of shade
As difficult as it can be to get into this campground, we were somewhat displeased. We expected it to be more 'disneyfied' like everything Disney and it wasn't. The campground is relatively well maintained but not well policed like other campgrounds so noisy neighbors drinking all the time and going to bathroom in the shrubbery any time of the day continue to get away with it. There is a ton of shade here, though.
One big plus is that you can charge everything in the parks to your campsite and also have items delivered to the campground office. Transportation to the park is not as convenient as you would think. You either have to find a way to get to one of the bus stops, which then drive forever to get to one of the parks or wait for a long time to get to the park by ferry. We found it quicker just to jump in our car and drive to the park.
Not bad, overall, but once was enough for us and we found better campgrounds in the Orlando area that are cheaper, with more amenities, that are easier to get into without having to reserve a spot at least a year in advance. We stayed here in a motor home.
Neat way to enjoy Disney
Enjoyed Fort Wilderness while visiting Disney while RV'ing to Orlando from Gainesville, FL. This was a cool way to experience the thrill of Disney but also not be holed up in an overpriced small resort hotel room. Granted there's not much nature to the campground, it still gives you the camping experience amongst a resort like atmosphere. Close to all the Disney parks. It is a large campground and area so bikes or renting the golf cart would come in handy especially if you're traveling with small children that walking a distance to the pool, etc would be a trek. If you're thinking of hitting up Disneyworld but plan to save by camping, would recommend. Very clean and well taken care of as expected for a Disney property.

Hoop-Dee-Doo
As with everything at Disney, Fort Wilderness was well maintained, friendly, and a lot of fun. This is a huge campground/resort! We enjoyed our camping experience for what it was- not so much about nature and more about the theme parks. Nightly campfire with Chip and Dale, awesome swimming area, horseback riding, fishing trips, and the obvious draw of Disney theme parks (the Magic Kingdom is a boat ride away!) made this a great place to call home for a few days. The campground/resort has SO much to offer! Highly recommend the Hoop-dee-doo review- lots of fun for the whole family :)
Great for some people
This Campground is more like a KOA sort of Campground there is not much nature put into it and you could tell that it is very well kept by the groundskeeper people it is a beautiful place to stay but if you were more into the backcountry sort of camping then this will not be the place for you
Going to See Mickey-
This was our home away from home for many years when we had Annual passes. The campground is perfect. Every site is pristine condition and has full hookups. You will pay high dollars to come here though. So many amenities it would be hard to list them all. Restrooms with showers in every loop. Laundry facilities, Multiple pools with slides. restaurants, lake, beach, outdoor movie theater with chip n dale. Arts and crafts time. convenience stores with souvenirs, golf cart and bike rentals. Bus transportation, ferry boat transportation and it goes on and on......
Ran across some more pics from Fort Wilderness today in my drop box. Man do I miss camping here! The boys were all so little and trips with mom and dad were actually fun. I would love to camp here again but I am thinking I may have to wait until they have kids of their own. Don't miss out on this campground while your kids are still little!
