 Lone Rock Campground, located along the South Platte River, boasts spectacular views and top-notch fly fishing waters. Hikers thoroughly enjoy the nearby Gill Trail and kayakers are drawn to the rapids of the rushing river.  Anglers flock to the river, renowned for rainbow and brown trout fishing. Tubing is also a popular activity. The Gill Trail is an intermediate hike that weaves through Cheesman Canyon. The trailhead is near the campground and extends 7 miles southwest to the Cheesman Dam at Cheesman Lake.

 The campground is situated on a hillside rising up from the South Platte River at an elevation of 6,479 feet. Many sites are open and feature a view of the river. Privacy is minimal but ponderosa pines provide some shade. Temperatures are generally mild.

 The drive along Highway 126 from Pine Junction affords magnificent views of the valleys below. Pikes Peak can be seen in the distance and other prominent rock formations present themselves throughout the scenic drive. Limited groceries are available in the town of Decker. 
## Charges & Cancellations

 Cancellations Individual Campsites: Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee. A visitor who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee including tax and applicable add-on for a campsite. Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee. No-Shows A no-show visitor is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until check-out time on the day following the arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and applicable add-on for a campsite. Refunds Visitors may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Refunds will not be issued after the 7 days has ended. Refunds for debit or credit card payments will be issued as a credit to the original bank or credit card used to pay. For check or cash purchases, Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with the reservation. Treasury check refunds may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive. In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team or facility manager will refund all fees and will attempt to notify you using the contact information within the Recreation.gov visitor profile.

Had a blast, we were at the site right on the river so too almost felt to have some privacy away from everyone else as the campsites are close. Clean site, awesome views. No complaints!!

Lone rock rocks

We love this campground due to the river access. The do have potable water but it tastes pretty bad, so brIng drinking/cooking water. Most, if not all sites, have a picnic table and fire pit. During reservable season (Memorial Day to Labor Day I believe), the campground host usually has firewood for sale. No cell service, no electric. We hear that the cafe In Deckers may be getting wifi. The campground is open all year but the water is shut off in the winter. Sites are close to each other. 

Line Rock review

We’re tent campers so at first I was a little thrown by the string of trailers &amp; campers that line the road. Fortunately, our friends got a spot on the river so we didn’t feel like we were smooshed between vehicles. We had an awesome time between 6 adults &amp; 7 kids! It is so much fun tubing down the river. The kids were old enough to walk up the path, tube down a little ways, then get out to do it all over again. Vault toilet was clean and there were a few water spouts around if needed. Pine Grove and Deckers are close enough that if you want to get out to eat you have that option. We were so content at our sites that we didn’t even need to do that. Overall I’d recommend this campground for a pretty easy getaway. If you’re a fisherman just be aware that the river is constantly fished so it’s pretty but tough to catch anything- all of the guys in our group have been to this area multiple times, are experienced fly fisherman, and never catch much if anything.

Peaceful on the river, great for families

This a great little campground right on the river. Our site was on a little hill, so we had to walk down to the tent/fire area, but it wasn't bad at all. Clean bathrooms and a nice host couple.

Good campground. Nice scenery. By the river. Good toilet facilities. Don’t be fooled by the stock photos on the app though. The pics of aspen groves on a dirt road....non existent for this campsite. Very misleading. So the criticism is more for the Dyrt app and false info being given. Campground is still good, just have proper expectations.

Spot 7 along the river was perfect.  Shade, river access, bathroom &amp; trash drop off nearby.

Great Trip

Not much to report - stayed the night - visited briefly with the host - would consider returning another time.

Enjoyable night's stay by the river

We arrived on a Tuesday and we’re the only people in the campground. 

The sites next to the river were perfect, and each had their own fire rings. 

T-Mobile - zero service 
Water- shut off on sept. 28th for winter.
Fees drop from $22 to $20 after sept. 28th regardless of what the sign says. 
Firewood- available from camp host for a small fee per bundle.
Toilets- long drops, no sink, no lighting. 
Trash- large dumpster available. 

Even though we were the only people staying overnight in the campsite the campground sees a lot of fisherman parking in the site to access the river. Easily 30 people within a 1 mile stretch of river on a weekday in October! Can’t imagine what weekends look like. 

We stayed at site number 7 and it had a boxed in leveled tent site. Select sites have them, others it’s semi flat ground. 

Solo RTT camping

We had site 7.  This is the only spot right on the water and shade for a good chunk of the day.  About half the spots don't have shade.  Very accessible to Deckers.  Most of the shops close by 6PM.

This campground is just over an hour from Denver making it a great retreat for the weekend. Sitting along the banks of the South Platte River, this site features on site toilets, campsite host, and quick access to the water for fly fishing or just dipping the toes in. This will be a site worth visiting again for sure!

Cozy campground close to Denver

This is such a nice spot. The view with the river so close to the campground is stunning. There were a few other campers, but completely quiet, you almost forgot they were there! There’s a bunch of great spots for tents as well. The bathrooms were well maintained and didn’t smell bad. Easy to find too

Really cool campground! We were able to tube on the river and we were at site five so we had direct access to the river as well. Just as a heads up this is a walk in site, but your cars aren’t parked very far away. And if you have a rooftop tent, you can still use that. Just know that your car will be parked on the road. It’s also $10 extra per night for an additional vehicle past the two vehicle per site limit.
