Fishing and paddling enthusiasts will find Gold Lake Campground positioned directly on the shoreline within Plumas National Forest. The US Forest Service operates this $25-per-night facility from June through October, with sites featuring a mix of shade from tall pines and open areas. A dirt road runs through the campground with some rocks requiring navigation, though clearance presents no issues for standard vehicles.
Recent campers note maintenance challenges, including unserviced toilets and debris-filled bear boxes, suggesting self-contained camping works best here. The campground provides bear boxes, picnic tables, and basic amenities, though no camp host presence was observed during peak season visits. Mosquitoes concentrate toward the nearby dispersed camping area. Reserve ahead for summer stays.
