Pretty Site!

First time to Sequoia/Kings Canyon and was offered this site on recreation.gov. Although this site was VERY far from the parks, it was pretty and remote. The Site Host Vicky was kind and gave us a good tip on swimming behind the Stoney creek store. Only camp here if you love driving, don’t mind a curves, and like serenity. No stores near by

Lovely, quiet Campground!

Great site! Spacious and clean, with a pretty cool creek that runs along the campground. My kids loved it! My only recommendation would be regular bathroom with a shower and to fill in the pot holes.

It’s a 4 because ......

The only reason it’s not a five is because we could not have campfires. I understand this is not the fault of camp hosts, but still a little disappointed. However, lesson learned to look at website prior to arriving. There were also tons of flies until it got darkish.

Campsite 13 is our favorite one here. It’s huge, compared to others and has a stream in the backyard. Very private too.

Beautiful, filled with trees, ladybugs, and cows!

This was a great little find tucked close to Kings Canyon and separated only be a crazy, winding backroad.  The host is very helpful and kind.  There is a field with cows.  COWS!  Mountain cows if you ask me.  There were a ton of ladybugs but the feeling of seclusion was great.  There are some awesome sites right on the stream but I didn't write down their numbers.  We had a great time!

A beautiful slice of nowhere

Great little campground that's completely out of the way. Not an easy place to spot a trailer ( have a 22' Genesis Vortex) but it can be done. They have a nice open meadow to view stars at just outside of the campground. The camp host is nice and polite and very helpful. You can shave about 45 off your drive up to the Generals Highway if you can take the Old Sawmill road but I'd recommend 4WD if you aren't into white knuckle experiences and not ruin your suspension. I'd definitely put this on my short list of places to get away from it all.

Hard to find, but well worth it!

DON'T follow your GPS, it took us down some sketchy path in Kings Canyon NP that led to some research facility... and the road was off-road and took it's toll on our car. Look for directions on your GPS to Hartland, and at that point there should be signs pointing you to Eshom Campground.

This campsite is packed deep into the woods, and is awesome! If you're looking to get away, this is the place to do it. Steve is the camp host and extraordinarily helpful. Ask him to show you were the clearing is to stargaze-->gorgeous view of the night sky. If you don't go to the clearing, the trees get in the way.

Water is pretty accessible, and facilities are alright.

Hidden gem

This place is REALLY out there. Seriously. While it is technically in Sequoia, it is very far off the beaten path and usually the roads to get there are super shitty and super winding (not recommended at night unless you're used to those conditions). But that's what keeps this place a secret!

If your camper/trailer is more than 17-18ft, do NOT attempt to come here, you'll probably get stuck on the way. You can get to the Scenic Byway by taking one of the forest routes as a shortcut (I wouldn't recommend it for vehicles that aren't either trucks or 4x4 SUVs…you will bottom-out in anything else, bc the road isn't maintained). I'm not sure how long it takes to get to the main pard via the regular routes.

There are several resident bears in the area, so you MUST take it seriously. Our site was visited nightly but bc we didn't leave food out it was fine. They come for the wild berry patches nearby. The toilets are fine (standard vault toilets) and there is running water. No showers or anything else.

We love how quiet and remote this place is, it's a favorite
