Description
Open BLM terrain among the boulder fields of Mojave National Preserve drops into a natural depression that hosts this well-established dispersed site, situated roughly 2 miles northeast of the Kelso/Kelbaker Road corridor, with Brown Buttes rising to the south and a broad landscape of desert canyons and rock piles to explore on foot. The approach track is rough and sandy enough that high clearance is a genuine requirement — multiple visits have ended with wheels dropping into soft sand. Per preserve rules, camping is permitted only at previously established fire-ring sites; this spot qualifies as one.
