## Overview

 War Eagle Campground sits along the vast shores of Beaver Lake in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas, offering spacious and sunny campsites and an abundance of recreational activities. 
## Recreation

 Fishing opportunities are plentiful near War Eagle Campground. Beaver Lake has more than 28,000 surface acres of water, and anglers can try their luck at catching large and small-mouth bass, crappie, bream, white bass, stripers, and channel or spoon-bill catfish. Just below the dam, the cold waters of the upper White River provide a perfect habitat for pole-bending rainbow and record-sized German brown trout. Several trails snake throughout the Ozark Mountains, offering peaceful hiking, biking and wildlife viewing opportunities for visitors. Hunters will find game plentiful in northwest Arkansas. A mixture of hardwood and evergreen forest provides a good home to many different species of wildlife. While Beaver Lake is conveniently located near several population centers, within a short driving distance, hunters can find remote areas filled with upland game animals such as deer, rabbits and squirrels. Many other sports and activities await campers, including boating, swimming, picnicking, scuba diving, water skiing, spelunking and sightseeing.
## Natural Features

 Towering limestone bluffs, natural caves and a variety of trees and flowering shrubs surround War Eagle Campground, making it an ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Beaver Lake and Dam, completed in 1966, was constructed in the White River Basin and boasts 449 miles of beautiful shoreline at the top of the conservation pool. Although the dam was originally built for flood control, hydroelectric power and public water supply, it has created a popular recreational oasis for the area.

The Best Camping Near Springdale, Arkansas

Historic area in the heart of the Arkansas Ozarks. Spots have shade, fire rings, and a river close by to play in. We used this spot as a base camp to hike in Hobbs State Park

Great campsite!

Used this campground as a base camp for Hobbs State Park.  The campground is adequate with fire ring and table.  The sites were level and big enough for a big tent.  The shower house is nice and clean. The easy access to Rogers, Bentonville and Eureka Springs makes this camp ground a nice base camp.  It could get hot in the summer but it has plenty of shade.

Im a Northwest Arkansas local and this is one of my favorite places to camp locally. Its not to far off the beaten path but its on the less popular side of the lake so its usually more quite and less people camping than the campsites like hickory creek, prairie creek, and horseshoe bend

Hidden gem 

Beautiful

There only 26 sites in this whole campground. All of them had ample shade but site #2. Sites #1 - #5 are at the top of the hill and pretty level, all other sites are at various locations on the hill and some are quite tricky to get into with a camper. We had site #15 and while I wouldn't want to back in without a spotter, we did fine with a 26' camper. This site and #17 had really pretty rock formations. Some of the sites have extra pads for tents but not site #15. Lots of ticks, so bring your spray but we will be camping here again. The two biggest drawbacks, besides the ticks, was 1) not being able to hook up to water as the sites do not have water, but we went and bought a 3rd hose to reach the nearest water to fill our tank and 2) the electric at our site was way in front of the campter, about the distance of the front, right bumper of our truck. We had to go by a $50 extension cord to even hook up to the electric but now we have the cord and I am sure it will come in handy in the future.

Pretty and Secluded

I used to really like this campground, but there was not a host this past summer and I felt less than safe. Some sites are hard to back into, even with my 15ft tear drop; say no to 20-23 if you have a camper. My favs have been 14,15 (see above review about the electric post) &amp; 24. 14 has a tricky uphill driveway, but is surprisingly spacious. The bathroom/shower is nice. No swim beach to speak of.  There is a marina. 

No host for Summer 2021

It was a little park, not a lot of traffic, has a marina, small boat dock, beach, shower house picknic area. Facilities were clean, shower house was updated in recent years. The road to the park goes through a poorer community, but located within short distance to stores and other parks.
