Our 'greeting' hosts were very pleasant, helpful, and accommodating- recommending site #8 of FF as even better than our reserved sites, which were more secluded within the trees. The second host enjoyed his outdoor television experience, which detracted from the quiet environment. We cannot comment on the facilities, as a recent fire destroyed the campground's water station; bathrooms, showers, and potable water disbursements were non-operational - yet the campground provided alternatives rather nicely. The campground environment was amiable and, although the neighbors were a bit much by our third night, sites were relatively dispersed. Our site #8 backed to the field and wooded area, so we had a very pleasant view. Overall, a nice experience.

For us with a 20 foot RV in tow, this was about perfect. Great well spaced sites in the pines. Hosts were very helpful. Half is first come first serve, other half about is reserved. There were plenty open when we arrived. No hookups, but a good dump and full station which is included in the 34 per night fee or 5$ for fill, 15 for empty.

Three visits there so far. Going up again this month. A pleasant week. Sites are level enough. And enough room to not feel crowded. I enjoy the cool pines!

This is a very nice well run place. The hosts are very on top of things. My only complaint is the showers. They are SIX DOLLARS for 8 minutes - but the worst part is, there is NO TEMPERATURE CONTROL.

Nothing like a scalding hot shower on a 90 degree day.

Fix your showers, forest service. Who ever heard of a shower that you can't adjust the temperature in? Not everyone likes water the same temperature.

Site was very close to level. Clean. Easy pull through. Hosts were great to work with. Very pretty area. Recommended!

This is a perfect campground. The roads are all paved. The campsites are level with good tent area. In addition to the fire rings there are actual grills. The bathrooms are flushing and there are showers, for a fee. Dump station for RVs.

Very clean, very quiet, and the camp hosts are 2nd to none..! Combine this with being along Lake Mary Rd and two lakes and you have a fantastic campground..! There are hundreds of pines throughout the area so very peaceful and shaded.

Campground is well kept and super quiet! Definitely would come back and recommend to a friend.

While there might not be a lot to do AT the site, it’s a great base camp. And when your not off doing something, it was very tranquil and peaceful. The grounds were kept very nice and the staff very friendly. Had my 1st skunk encounter, thankfully it just screamed and ran away. I would definitely stay here again.

This campground is very clean and good for all sized units. My unit is a 30' so I couldnt use the nearby campgrounds. We arrived without a reservation and there were still plenty of sites available.

Staff was great and the sites were clean. Host says its very popular with many people.

Absolutely gorgeous and well maintained campground with great roads and open spaces. No problem getting our 27 foot Airstream in and around the entire campground.

Stayed here in October for one night.  The altitude can definitely be a challenge when you're not used to it.  Campsites are big, but not too private.  Restrooms were clean and the camp hosts were nice and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful views!! We found this dirt road on the map and eventually found an awesome campsite along the road. 10/10 recommend.

We love this campground. It has everything you would need to camp in the woods. There is water to fill up if needed but showers available for a fee also. There are spots you can reserve 6 months in advance on the website. Amazing that there is a dump station available. We always drive to Ashurst Lake for fishing.

Pine Grove is a nice campground to beat the Phoenix heat in the summer. Some sites are pretty private, while others are not. Our kids enjoyed playing in the meadows, catching bugs, and riding their bikes around the campground. But other than that, there's not a whole lot else to do. It's a quiet base camp near Flagstaff and the activities there. But we enjoyed the relaxing days at camp. We went in late September and the daytime temps were perfect but the nights were pretty chilly for us Phoenix desert rats. The flush toilets and showers were a nice convenience.

Campground was beautiful, spacious sites with nice level paved parking pad and tent pad. Our site was among the pines bordering a meadow. Each site had a fire pit and picnic table. Campground had wood for sale, clean bathrooms, and pay showers located near the host sites. Sites aren’t private, but we didn’t feel on top of our neighbors either. The Arizona trail passes through near the entrance of the campground, so there is trail access for hiking/biking nearby.

Some friends and I went camping here near the beginning of our first semester in college. It was peaceful and we were the only ones in the vicinity. The drive was beautiful and for a bunch of astrophysics students, the night sky there took our breath away. Definitely plan on going back.

Flush toilets. Pay showers. Weekend ranger talks at small amphitheater. Most sites are spread out but some quite close. Nice flat spot for one big tent or two small ones at each site. Close to Mormon Lake. Access to Arizona Trail right by camp.

On a side trip from Route 66 I headed down towards Sedona, camping on the way down and back. I ended up at Pine Grove Campground. It was a pretty nice campground, and pricey as a result. Mostly Rv’s and some tents, at least this campground had pay showers and a very attentive campground host (mostly due to his Very Very alert little dog). The campground is large with more than one loop, set back in the pine trees. There were great opportunities for hammocking and visiting with your close neighbors. Every site had the usual picnic tables and fire pits, and for the RV set, there were full hookups and a dump station. The best part was how quiet it was back in the trees. However, it was so dry you could not have a fire without some major trepidation. The nearby lakes were more than 10 feet below normal levels.

This campground has everything you need. Flush toilets, pay showers, water, easy access to sites. If you’re looking for comfortable camping, this is a great place for you. We found it to be a little more commercialized than we prefer, but we chose to stay here due to the proximity to the Arizona Trail. The trail can be easily caught from Pine Grove and road from Utah to Mexico. The Coconino National Forest is gorgeous. Despite how built up the campground is, it still provides wonderful wooded scenery.

We camped at pine grove in July 2016. The weather was perfect! Very clean campgrounds with flush toilets, garbage, fire rings, and tables. They have showers, but you pay for that (not sure how much). We felt very safe there. It was packed with campers and not a lot of space between the sites. The camp hosts were very nice and made their rounds many times per day. They sold fire wood and ice. There were a few lakes nearby, but they were all dry at that time. All sites were under tall pines. Everyone seemed to obey the 10 pm quiet time. We did see a baby bear on top of the camp hosts 5th wheel when we got there, so remember this is bear country! We will definitely return
