Chena River State Recreation Area Dispersed near Rosehip Campground

Tucked inside the Chena River State Recreation Area northeast of Fairbanks, this lakeshore pullout sits off a short grassy track screened by trees — quiet enough at night that moose are regular visitors and the open sky above the water makes it a prime northern lights vantage point. The access spur can turn muddy in rain, but the spot accommodates multiple small rigs and the lakeside fringe works well for tents.
