Reservations are available at Ole Bull State Park Campground, which runs $24–$43 per night and stays open year-round in the forested hills of Potter County, Pennsylvania. Getting there requires navigating rough access roads, so drivers with larger rigs should note the 50-foot RV maximum before heading out. Sites range from fully shaded to open, with electric, water, and sewer hookups available, and a dump station on-site. Cell service is essentially nonexistent within the park, with some visitors reporting a 15–20 minute drive required to get a signal.
Kettle Creek runs through the park and draws consistent attention from anglers. Multiple reviewers mention seeing other campers return to their sites with trout caught within walking distance of the campground. A hiking trail follows the stream, and swimming in the creek is also an option in warmer months. Site 81 has been flagged by at least one visitor as a particularly desirable waterfront spot, though it fills quickly. Wildlife sightings, including black bear and bald eagle, have come up in multiple reviews.
The bathhouses have been renovated and reviewers consistently note them as clean, with tiled floors and large utility sinks for dishwashing. Firewood sells on an honor system for $6 per bundle, though availability can vary by season and host schedule. The campground sits within easy range of Cherry Springs State Park, a well-known dark sky preserve, making it a practical base for stargazing trips in the area. For campers who want more dispersed or equestrian-focused options nearby, Horsey Hilton Equestrian Campground — Susquehannock State Forest provides a different setup a few miles east.
Description
Ole Bull State Park consists of 132 acres along the Kettle Creek Valley in Potter County. This area is called the Black Forest because of its once dense tree cover, mountainous terrain and wilderness habitat. The park is named after Ole Bornemann Bull, the famous Norwegian violinist who toured the United States in the 1850's. Ole Bull attempted to develop a Norwegian settlement at this beautiful location. A monument was erected at the park in 2002.
