The campground offers a mix of tent, RV, and cabin accommodations. The tent-only sites are nicely separated from the RV spots, giving you a bit of that back-to-nature feel. Bluffton, Georgia

Welcome to Kolomoki Mounds State Park Campground, nestled near Blakely, GA. This spot is a gem for anyone looking to unwind and soak in some history. The campground is part of a state park that's home to ancient Native American mounds, which are fascinating to explore. The museum on-site offers a peek into the past with artifacts and exhibits that bring the history of the area to life.

The campground itself is small and cozy, with just over 20 sites, making it perfect for a more intimate camping experience. If you can snag one of the lakefront sites, you're in for a treat with beautiful views and a refreshing lake breeze. Even if you don't get a lakeside spot, the common areas provide easy access to the water for kayaking, swimming, or just relaxing by the shore.

Families will find plenty to keep the kids entertained, from playgrounds to mini-golf. There are also several walking trails, though be aware that they aren't ADA accessible. The trails offer a chance to see local wildlife and enjoy the natural beauty of the park. Just a heads-up: keep an eye on your pets and small children near the water, as there have been occasional gator sightings.

Amenities include clean bathhouses, electric hookups, and picnic tables. While there's no cell service at the campsites, you can get a signal at the visitor center if you need to check in with the outside world. This lack of connectivity can actually be a blessing, giving you a chance to truly disconnect and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Whether you're here for the history, the natural beauty, or just a relaxing getaway, Kolomoki Mounds State Park Campground has something to offer. Enjoy your stay and don't forget to visit the mounds at sunrise for a truly magical experience.
