Yellowstone Back Country site 2S3 - Slough Creek is an amazing camping location if you enjoy a valley view with high peaks all around and herds of bison, not to mention the sunrise and sunsets.   The cooking area for 2S3 is seated in mature fir trees which provide plenty of shade, which made the site seem as it was air conditioned compared to the sunny valley you have just been hiking through.  The cooking area has a bear pole for hanging your food but you will not need it as the site has a bear proof food locker.  A rock fire ring with logs to sit on is also at the site.  Water is plentiful as a small stream runs right along the edge of the cooking area.  The camp area has two possible areas to set up your tents, both provide outstanding views of the valley.  One location is just before the cooking area on a trail to the left as you reach the cooking/food area.  A small short climb places you on a flat area above the valley.  The second is south out of the cooking/food area, just cross the creek and take a steep trail up the hill, after several minutes you will reach the end of the trail with a nice level location under a large fir tree well above the valley.  A small fire ring is at this location as well.
