The Best Camping Near Neah Bay, Washington

This is a small campground that fills up on a first come, first serve basis. There are 15 total sites so if you definitely want to stay here make sure you get here a bit earlier. The sites are $20 a night. Pit toilets are available as well as potable water sources. This is a great place to stay if you're interested in water activities or just need a place to stay in the park!

This small, first come first served, campground on the Olympic Peninsula is situated in a great place to enjoy the National Park. The Lake is beautiful.

This is a special place.  Camping has all the necessary amenities but be sure to have a full tank of gas and food/firewood when you pass through forks or Sekiu as there aren't any service stations out here in one if the more remote parts if Washington and even the US.  There is a great beach walk loop you should try out.

Pretty busy campground but quiet enough. Easy walk to the lake and then to trailhead from campground. Absolutely loved how dark it was at night which made for incredible stargazing.

The official National Park Ozette Campground is a very small campground right on the lake and next to the ranger station in Ozette, at the upper NW quadrant of the Olympic Peninsula.

The sites are all flat and pretty much open - you will definitely see your neighbors. The toilets are a bit of a walk away at the ranger station / trail head. There is a huge parking lot full of cars but no people as this is a big place to hike out and camp on the beach (about a 3 mile hike in to the closest camping) - if you hike on the beach, you'll need a backcountry permit which you can get at the ranger station (available when it is open or closed).

It was surprising to me, but there were deer walking around the camp while we were there. Don't leave your food out. We also found it to be pretty mosquito-y here compared to other ONP camping.

This is actually in the National Park, so you'll need to have a NP pass or pay the fee to register your car. Camping is first come - no reservations.

All sites have a fire ring and picnic table. There is also a water point. For showers, you can pay at the Lost Resort up the street.

If you're planning to do the 9 mile Ozette triangle loop hike, you'll want to check the tide table at the ranger station. Low tide was very early in the morning during the summer and you'll find yourself racing the tide to get around the heads if you don't leave early enough. If you do wind up on the beach at high tide, you'll have to use the upper trails which requires some ropes and steep hills to finish the hike. If you have kids, be sure to leave early enough. If the tide is low in the morning, recommend camping here and using it as your base.

Perfect Basecamp for the Ozette day hike

Campground sits on the bank of Ozette lake. Not a lot of sites (15) but first come first served. Dry sites, no hookups, $20/night. Only reason not 5 stars is that the walk to the bathroom was quite far at night for teeth brushing etc. (website says pit toilets, but next to the ranger station there were flush toilets and running water, open all night)

Great Views close to hiking and beach

I LOVED this area. we did a day hike hike not to far away that was stunning. It took a while to get to the views and sights and it was really muddy but it was worth it. You get the chance to scale the side of this rock with this rope that is installed to help you get to the top. The view of the beach is beautiful. Tons of starfish and wildlife. Unfortunately there was a dead whale on the beach when I went but that made it even more interesting to see. The weather was great. Just be sure to bring some shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. The trail was called Shi Shi Beach.

Pit toilets, no showers, national park price ($22/night for basic fire ring and picnic table). Cool spot for hiking but otherwise a little out of the way. No cell service. Some sites are pretty close together.

It takes about an hour to get to the Ozette campground and even though we got there at noon, all the sites were taken. The sites themselves were very close together so there's virtually no privacy. Will not be taking a chance on going back another time. Too much hassle to drive all that way for such a mediocre site.

The experience was pretty good overall. The campsite was clean and the sites were large. It wasn’t crowded which is good considering half the campsite was flooded. But if you are ready for it to be very wet and very rainy, then it’s cool. There was a pit toilet near the trailheads outside the campground and it seems like there is some ranger station but it was closed down due to COVID. The trails down to the coast were nice, but just make sure you stay dry and warm.

We had to find a site that wasn't not too swamped.  We found one by the road.  The bathrooms were clean and warm and near the trailhead to the Ozette triangle hike.  Not many sites for peak season.

It was surprisingly hard to find information on Ozette Campground before I went. There are a few mentions of it because it is actually within the Olympic National Park (not Forest) but not as much as, say, Hoh or Heart o’ the Hills or the Kalaloch areas.

There are actually 20 sites in this campground so it is not terribly small. The problem is that there is a lot of precipitation in this area year round (you know, what with the rainforest thing) and a lot of the sites are low lying or on slopes that cause them to either flood, or be prone to wash outs. So the campground itself feels a little like the NPS has given up on improving it and is content to just let campers figure it out as they go. That’s all well and good, but I would have been pretty annoyed to drive all the way out here for a first come first served site only to discover that it was not usable. I was not able to find anywhere you can obtain up to date information (even a call to the ranger was not very helpful, as the campground is also off their beaten track and they don’t necessarily know what it looks like on any given day).

$20/night. There is no potable water available in the off season although the campground remains open, so prepare to bring your own. Mosquitoes off the lake are also fierce and undeterred by citronella etc, but back off with the heavy duty DEET.

Far flung campground, prone to flooding

Pretty Campground directly at the lake Ozette. We got there in July and there were only 5 other sites occupied, so we had a lot sites to choose from. Took number 2, with a direct path to the lake. Missed a station to do dishes and the restrooms were a bit of a walk away. Overall very idyllic and I recommend to take the 1 hour drive to this lovely campground.

Phone service is limited. Pack out garbage. One restaurant about a mile away with wifi. Quite friendly campers. Beach hike is a most at 3.2 miles one way. I would camp here again as Wedding Rocks is another day hike for Petrogliphs.
No fires if you camp on the beach and permit/check in is required for backcountry camping.  Very remote!

National Park Lake Ozzett

It was fantastic not crowded, it was late in the season. Shutdown except for campground and pit toilets. Still a great place.
