The Best Camping Near Port Townsend, Washington

This is a small campground surrounded by the fort. It had plenty to explore but not that many camping areas. The areas they had filled up quickly and were very crowded. Otherwise, this would be a good spot for RVers. The fort is pretty neat to walk around and is bigger than would be expected.

Choose other parks for serenity. 

Stayed here in early August and the weather was amazing the whole time. Not a lot of privacy at the camp sites, but we spent most of our time walking around the park. 

Great Weekend Escape

This is one of two campgrounds at Fort Worden, which I find slightly less preferable to the lower (beach) campground. It is a close second though, since it's an easy walk to the beach, and actually offers a nice wooded location. The sites are pretty close together, so you don't get a lot of privacy. There are also lots of trails, and you could walk into lovely town of Port Angeles if you were up for a bit of a walk. This is on the site of an old fort, so there are big parade grounds for walking and picnicking away from your campsite.
You need a Discover Pass for day use. These are required at pretty much all county and state campgrounds in Washington State. They cost $30 per year.

Nice, clean sites. Poor cell phone coverage. ADA sites are very accommodating.
