Misty Mountain Camp Resort is located in Crozet, Virginia, off of 250 below Afton Mountain. I'm familiar with this resort. Many, many years ago, when it was Yogi Bear's park, a lot of updates since then. Great accommodations. I've not enjoyed camping as much as I have these last 2 weeks with my son Matthew, who is 30 years old down syndrome, autism and a leukemia survivor. I am 66 years old. I'm on the best adventure of my life. Just bought a new motorhome after my partner of 15 years passed away. I'm on a new journey. And taking care of my life with good health. I recommend this park to anyone. Friendly staff, accommodating, pet friendly dog parks, bathhouse, laundry, sun, and shade, with 30 and 50 amp hookups with sewage. I couldn't ask for a better place. Have a fun-loving life, I am!

Very laid back atmosphere, plenty for the kids to do! Kept them occupied the whole trip! Enjoyed the music and smores offered by the campground, site was close to level and felt we had plenty of room around us!

This campground was really great for a family with small children. There were events the entire time we were there and the staff were awesome. The only detractors were that our site (52) was tiny so it was a tad stressful having kids running around right beside the road, the smell of weed that was prevalent (not the campground’s fault) and the motorcycle noise from the nearby interstate.

Only stayed one night, easy to access sites with large Rv, flat site, didn’t even have to unhitch. Our kids had a blast on the inflatable jump pad which was open all day and we could watch them from our spot! Big open field, great shower and laundry facilities as well.

My family goes here every year for labor day and loves it! They stay in the cabins and I in the RV. Lower area is nice and open with close access to the activities. Upper area is a little more quiet and still an easy walk to the lower area. Bath houses were in good shape and AT&T had decent cell coverage as well!

Love the pool, cabins and all amenities

We have stayed here twice. The stay is decent. Can get loud and the golf carts are excessive and loud. The reduction in stars is for the golf carts. They blind you at night and ruin campfire time.

We like the campground but we had to move spots because our first site did not have enough room. Our second site #3 was right near a creek and was a great spot. It is hard to get in and out of the sites but once you are here is great! Awesome staff and lots of great activities. Good value.

We loved all the amenities this campground offered. The only reason I have 4 starts is because some of the camp sites are tough to get into, small for long campers. We had to move when we first got here because the space was very tight. Our new spot was next to a babbling creek and was very desirable! Spots that are near the creek are very nice!

We picked a site that had a picture of a picnic table and fire ring on a nice grassy site. But when we got there it was entirely gravel. Like camping in a parking lot. Terrible. It was also near the bouncy play area. Kids were loud the whole time. Not a problem if I was expecting it, but there was no indication that this was where we were camping. Don't recommend unless you have kids. They seemed to be having fun.

We have camped here many times and never has a bad experience… clean campground and friendly employees

Nice campground, really close to historic Charlottesville.  Some fun breweries and restaurants are right around the corner. 

Our site was great- up a hill and surrounded by trees. Very quiet.

I'd be less happy if I ended up in one of the lower level sites. No trees, packed in, and near a busy road.

We went here for our first camping trip after buying our first camper. My daughter said she started having fun as soon as the car door opened. The spots along the creek were so nice but they are not full hookup. The full hookups were in the middle but got really muddy when it rained because there wasnt enough gravel so prepare. Other than that it was an amazing trip. Great hiking in the mountains near by.

Amazing friendly people, they have club house pool ,golf carts allowed and can rent,rv sites up in the mountains or rite on the river ,kool place for the kids.

Camping was nice

Sites are on top of each other and the site next to us had three family sized tents on it encroaching our fire pit by five feet. Lots of parties, very noisy. We had water hookup and the pressure was low also.

I’m here in March, when the predominant color is brown and it’s very wet. It might be nicer in the summer when it’s dried out. The lower section near the entrance is very loud (road noise). I’m in the upper section (steep and windy road to get up here) It’s better noise wise here. Site 50 is a bit strange. Camping area is big enough for a small rig but the power pedestal is far away, so you might have to be creative in setting up. Unless you have a long power cord or don’t hook up at all. Check-in was extremely fast and efficient. I wouldn’t come back, though.

This campsite is conveniently located off of I-64, and easy accessible. We stayed for the weekend and had a great time. The camp sites are nice, and we were able to stay in a pull through location. Be careful though, as some sites are really close to the main office were check-in is, and can come quickly, as ours was. No big deal, and we should of looked at the site map closer, but heads up anyway.

The sires themselves are rather close, but nice and level. Hook ups were easily accessible, and worked well. The main office has a nice store with all the necessities. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

We enjoyed our stay and will stay there again.

Misty Mountain Camp Resort is becoming one of my favorite campgrounds. I recently camped in my Winnebago motor home, in site 67. Site 67 is on the upper level of the campground, is a pull through site, and has full hookups. I was pleasantly surprised when we got there and I found out it has its own deck!!! Site also includes a fire ring and a picnic table. There are no other sites to the right of the site, so the view is awesome. No issues with electricity, water hook up fine. We did not connect to sewer, because we were only staying over night. Dog friendly space directly across from this site, so it was very convenient. Views beautiful. Bathhouse clean. Site was much longer than our 30ft motor home, we were not towing. Highly recommend this campground, staff is helpful and friendly. The sites are well maintained. I will certainly return...this was my third visit to this campground.

Great location to local breweries and wineries. Sites are not the largest. I would recommend staying at the bottom if you can. The top sites have two very steep hills and pretty tight to get around with camper. Overall great campground.

It looks like a really great camp ground. T-1 though T-6 sites flood often became they are low and next the the river. We camped at t2 and had to tear down as soon as we set it up. The sites with utilities looked fine. And there was some cabins/back country camping. I think I will go on a less rainy season or in my rtt with the family.

We stayed in the backwoods part of the grounds. The sites were more private than the river sites. The winding layout allowed for more distance between other sites. The woods were beautiful with easy walking trails right from the site. There is a well stocked souvenir/general store just as you enter with camping supplies, ice, wood, etc. The RV sites are near the entrance to the campsite - this area seemed rather tightly packed-in with not much space between campsites (more of a party vibe). We are tent campers, so this wasn’t an issue for us. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

RV section is typical style in a large field. Back in sites for smaller trailers such as our teardrop were plenty big enough but still on the outskirts of the field. Bath house was very clean and very well thought out. Electric sites have 20a, 30a, and 50a hookups so small trailers can use a normal extension cord.

The river sites are the best. This campground has a music festival yearly that highlights local bands and artisans. They also have cornhole tournaments from what I’ve heard. Grounds, pool, bathhouses, laundry, restrooms all well-maintained. Store also has hot coffee and sometimes donuts for those crisp mornings. 💙

The group site, at the top of the hill, is secluded and private. Awesome for a big get-together.

LOCAL TIP: “Smoked” and “Crozet Pizza” and “Fardowners” - all in nearby Crozet, and all amazing.

My family and I had a blast with some close friends. Everyone was super friendly the the grounds were clean. There was a lot of activities to keep all entertained. Karaoke and family fear factor was a hit. Descent size pool that wasn’t overcrowded. Close to wineries and breweries with fantastic Mountain Views. They also hold great music festivals in the Spring and Fall that we are excited to check out. We will be back.

They have a cute store/registration with friendly staff. I have a 30ft class c and there was definitely enough space for my RV. I only see travel trailers around us and not other RVs. However, the spots are sooooo close to each other I could hear my neighbors conversation. Also, I went to take a shower while my spouse was taking his shower and the ladies room had no hot water. It was a huge bummer. While the price was somewhat reasonable, I wouldn’t come back.

We stay two nights and had a great time! There are lots of activities to do as a family and everything is kept up nicely. The jump pad and the pool tables were our favorites.

Great facility with plenty to do.

We love coming to Misty Mountain Camp Resort. Many campgrounds with the word “resort” charge extra for entities but not here. It’s a great spot to settle and then explore all the Charlottesville area has to offer: historical tours, vineyards, distilleries and UVA.
