Full hookups and nice restrooms
the host is easy to deal with. If you arrive late, pay in the morning. My wife said the restrooms were old but were in excellent condition and clean. In fact, she raved about them.

Located not too far from I-81, easy to get to. This CG does a lot of overnight business, there is a parade of campers arriving from mid afternoon to after dark. In the morning there is a gradual exodus. Sites are mostly level, hookups are convenient. Located adjacent to a sheep and cow ranch. You can hear almost constant road noise if you are outside, not too much inside the your camper. There is a pool but it was closed when we were there. Staff are helpful. Restrooms are clean. CG has a laundry.
We stayed there twice on the same trip (April 2025), once going then returning. We would stay there again.

Dyrt says $40-$42. Price now is $56. Decent place. Easy on off off IH77. Prefer this to most KOA’s for value. Nice, tree filled sites, clean and well lighted shower rooms, rural setting, but near a city. Definitely would recommend.
Busy but we spent a very quiet night and woke up to local livestock out the window. Glad we tried it!
Got propane and had easy access to highway in the morning.
Will be back

We stopped here on our way to Florida, extremely convenient to the 81/77 junction. The star of this show is the scenery - absolutely gorgeous, and their seriously out-of-date website doesn't do it justice. Surrounded on three sides by open fields full of cows and sheep, and awesome mountain views, this place couldn't have been any more peaceful. There's a pool but it was closed, and when I asked why the person working said, "no idea." That was the answer to a couple of questions - the person on wasn't the friendliest. We had to stay an extra night because of mechanical trouble, but we did laundry, walked around, just relaxed and watched the cows. Small store, ice and propane available. Full hook-ups. Some shade trees, close spaces but not packed too tightly overall. Lovely spot. Lost one star because the staff was meh.
Very relaxing. Great to take a couple days relaxing out of the hurry of city life. There is plenty of room to walk your pet and some of the sites provide shaded areas. You are just about .25 miles from the freeway, but you do not hear it. Staff is very friendly. They have propane and a little store for those that might need.

If you’re heading south on 81 into Tennessee, there really is no better place to stop for the night past this point. Staff were friendly and sites include cable, electric, water, and sewer.

Two nights here and enjoyed it. We did laundry, sat by the pool or watched the sheep grazing on the hill. Sites are a good size and doesn't feel cramped. The store is stocked with essentials and staff is friendly.
We thought we would try a different place for our mid-point stop to Myrtle Beach. It's a Good Sam park, clean bathrooms, small pool, no fire rings, close access to freeway. Alot of highway noise can be heard from the campground, even with the hilly grazing pasture for cows between the highway and campground.
Probably would stay here again for the one night, but not a whole weekend or holiday
We stayed 3 nights at Fort Chiswell. Although first impressions weren’t that great, it grew on me. This is a lovely park right off the main highway. You don’t hear any noise because a large hill blocks every thing off. RV sites aren’t really spacious, but are shaded with a picnic bench. No fire pits allowed. You are surrounded by farm land on two sides and it was relaxing watching the cows and sheep graze on the hillsides. There’s a large pond stocked with koi fish. The grounds are well-kept. There is a pool that hadn’t opened yet. The public bathrooms and showers were clean, but really could use some upgrades. The only issue I had was with the multiple signs to pick up after your dog, but the only waste receptacle was the dumpster near the front entrance.

Stayed here for 3 nights while slowly making our way to South Carolina. Very pretty area nestled in the mountains. It’s just off the interstate, but heard very little traffic due to large hill. Lots of cows and sheep grazing in the fields nearby. Most of the people who came were overnight only, so during the day it was pretty quiet. There’s a pool that wasn’t open when we came, but they were getting ready to open it. The sites are pretty close together and are not real level. I used their shower and public bathroom and those definitely could use some upgrades. It looks like it hadn’t changed since the 1960’s, but were pretty clean. Internet service was okay in the day, but poor at night. The one thing that bothered me were the multiple signs to clean up after your dog, but had absolutely no trash bins anywhere on the property. You had to walk your poop to the dumpster at the main entrance.
Awesome campground, quiet and less than a mile off of 81. All pull thru, full hookup, and level sites. Pool and bathhouse are open. We had only planned to stay the night but decided to stay a couple of days to let weather pass us by. Thanks to reviews in dyrt we made an informed decision to stay here. Office very helpful and friendly. Will stay here again in our way home. And great BBQ a mile away.

If the rona virus bull shit wasn’t going on and the bath house and the pool were open it would have been just perfect.

One mile off the Interstate, but you would never know it! A large hill at the west side of the park blocks most of the noise. There's even cows on the hill! Super nice people that run it, as well as the campers visiting. Each campsite has a level space, shade, and picnic table. Full hook ups, including cable! There is a very clean pool, but it was not open. Just wish there was a wildlife area with flowers here....

I was traveling in this area and was really excited to have found that there is a town called Austinville where Stephen F Austin, a founder of Texas, originated. While driving out to the monument in his honor I found this site and loved what I saw!
Highway access to this area is easy for all types of traveler. there are several stores in the area with just about anything you could need or want only moments away from camp and if you are there in late summer when I was, the sun rises are amazing!!!!
So what is the catch?? Well they don't accept tents!!! NOOOOOO!! I didn't find a single thing about that online when I checked their site following finding out this knowledge, however I did like this site enough to still give them a positive review because they were so nice, their facility was ample and their proximity itself.
In fact, they were so nice they gave me a tour of the campground even though I couldn't stay and gave me some great info about places around me which led me to another campground that served me perfect, a tent campground nearby.
This site has a very nice restroom with multiple sinks, a large laundry room perfect for a camper who is on the road for a while like myself. I noticed there was a very nice pool which is heated, allowing it to be open much longer than many campgrounds in the area. There is a large pet area and also playground and several hiking areas in the direct area which all looked nice.
Nearby are numerous state parks as a part of the New River Trail including the Shot Tower Historical Site which is a very short distance away. In addition, people often come here to watch the birds and deer, which are very relaxing.
Should I return with an RV I also inquired about the rates which are reasonable at $35 for standard hook ups and they do have weekly rates also. I did notice what appeared to be a few long term campers but their areas still looked kept and maintained.
TIPS:

Fort Chiswell RV park in Virginia is a very clean park beautiful trees paved driveways and a bathroom that is very clean and at the end of the bathrooms actually have tables at Pavilion They have Wi-Fi they also have cable TV so that was nice to have the extras while camping we camped there for four days and it was very nice the people are extremely nice
