Caledon State Park Campground, near Fredericksburg, Virginia, is a fantastic spot for those who love a bit of adventure combined with the beauty of nature. With tent pads set up along scenic trails, it’s perfect for a hike-in camping experience that leads you right to the banks of the Potomac River.

The campground is known for its peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained facilities, including porta potties and a pavilion nearby. The Best Camping Near King George, Virginia

This is a wonderful Potomac Riverfront day-use park with a wildlife refuge and old-grown forests. You can not camp here but you can rent a picnic pavilion for day use. They have excellent nature-centered events and a nature center, plus free picnic areas. Great bird watching and bald eagles. I think the nearest camping is Prince William Forest Park, north on 95. 


No camping, day use only 

A few friends an myself went camping here. It was my first hike in primitive camping experience. We hiked for a few hours and finally got to our site which was right on the Potomac River. Gorgeous view and I was glad to be there after the long haul.

Caledon was an amazing adventure that’s so close to Fredericksburg.  It’s a nice 3 mile hike to the campsite which is right by the Potomac river! They have porta Johns and a pavilion close by.  The beach is beautiful and we saw the most gorgeous sunset.  Would highly recommend this beautiful state park.

7 or 8 tent pads. Wood for sale at the site for $4 honor system. Porta pottie right next to wood pile. You’re not supposed to setup anything outside of the “tent pads”. 
I had a hammock hung and three rangers saw but didn’t say anything. 
Over all easy 2.5 mile hike on groomed gravel trails. 
No water on site and no reasonable source to filter water from so be prepared.
