Access to campground is on a gravel road but my van did okay. It is small and primitive and there is a camp host who is very nice. Within walking distance from the campground are accesses to hiking / biking trails. Sites are spacious and shady.
Just outside of Ripton and East Middlebury this small campground is great, every site has a fire ring and there are outhouses. The surrounding forest is filled with lakes, hiking and mtn biking.
This is our 4th visit and this year was no exception to how much we like this campground. This year they have all new pit toilets. They were very clean! Sites are generously spaced out. We went “first come, first serve” on a Weds and had no problem getting a site. There were only 3 other campers out of 19 sites. Although most said reserved, there were a lot of no shows which made the campground extremely peaceful and quiet! By Friday, it started to fill up but still very peaceful and quiet. There was no campground host which was a first but there was a park ranger that showed up to clean and stock bathrooms. We had a fabulous hike up the Moosalamoo trail and the weather was perfectly “fall” like. Can’t wait to go back! Wish they were open past Columbus Day weekend.
A friend and I camped at Moosalamoo. The camp host was very helpful in pointing out the prime first come first serve sites. We chose site 12 even though it was a short walk to unload n load our gear. The site was a little more secluded than most. It is large enough for the 2 tents we set up. Plenty of recreation opportunities as well
This campground is great! Located down a gravel forest road but easy to navigate. The sites are nice and spread apart with a lot of privacy. You can hike or drive down to an overlook and they have more hiking trails off the campground or you can just hike the forest road since it’s pretty deserted. Silver lake trail was great too and nearby. Also if you like mountain biking they have multiple trails. We did the campground loop mountain bike trail and it was perfect for a beginner/intermediate biker!
This has become a favorite spot! 19 sites, most are FF. Extremely quiet campground. Clean pit toilets. Great camp hosts. Very clean and spacious sites.
Great campsite, each site is spaced from each other with good tree/brush coverage and beautiful forest surroundings. It was secluded and dark at night, one of the best campsites to date! There were very friendly camp hosts during our visit. Also close to great towns, North and South of campsite to visit. The trails and lake provided things to do. There were trails for biking and hiking right off campsite. Also although they had no power, water, dumps or modern bathrooms the campsite had well water pumps and the cleanest most order free toilet vaults we have ever seen.
Pro you will have nest night sleep ever here, privacy, multiple things to do.

What a wonderful place to camp..you feel like you are away from it all. Nice jeep trails and hiking all around. Silver lake is amazing.
We stared at Moosalamoo August 29 through September 2 2021 and had a wonderful stay.
The camp host Plylar greeted us as we arrived and gave us complete information about the sites, amenities, bears (not so much bears) and even which pit toilets were the least stinky.
The sites are well spread apart and have plenty of nature in between so you don't feel you are sitting in your neighbor's campsite.
The fire pit was a little disappointing since it was installed too high and it was difficult to use the grill because the coals were too far away from the grate, but we made do and had good meals anyway.
Get firewood from a roadside stop before you arrive. There is no firewood available onsite.
The water from the hand pump was fresh, clear and tasty.
At night, you can go out to the bicycle pump track and lay a blanket on the grassy hill against the track and look at stars in COMPLETE darkness.
We arrived on a Tuesday with no reservations. We had our pick of sites and no issues staying for 2 days. There were several sites reserved starting Thursday and Friday so the weekend looked to be busier. We only had one other camper on our loop the first night and no one the second. Sites were gravel which helped keep the dog and van clean when we had a thunderstorm with lots of rain. Check in is a self service kiosk. The host campers were there to assist if needed and where very friendly. Pit toilets were very clean and for $15 a night, this campground is well worth the price!
Moosalamoo Campground is smack in the middle of the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area, in the Green Mountains of VT. 18 campsites, 8 of which are first come, first serve. Ample toilets and potable water available. There is a grassy area in the center of the campground—great for kids, gatherings, etc.
This is an exceptionally well laid out and maintained campground. The camp sites are well spaced and staggered for maximum privacy. Hosts are pleasant and very helpful.
Lots of great hiking accessible from the campground, or within a short drive. Silver Lake and Lake Dunmore are nearby. Both have beaches: Silver Lake is accessible only by foot, down a .6 mile trail from the parking area.
I would recommend camping at Moosalamoo Campground because the campsites are spread out and it's nice and quiet with great privacy. The campground is conveniently located less than 20 minutes from Middlebury and still is down a long access road, therefore has no road noise. Moosalamoo campground has awesome bike trails with with smooth trail beds and nice rolling bumps. The kind campground hosts can tell you all about the hiking and biking trails within Mossalamoo National Forest. When you are in the Moosalamoo area, beautiful trees and wildness surrounds you! You should definitely come to the Mossalamoo campground.

I hadnt planned on staying in this campground, but drove by a sign for it and decided to check it out. The campsites are $15 per night and are very well spaced, probably 50 yards apart with lots of trees between, very private. Small campground, I think 19 sites, in one loop. Clean pit toilets and fresh water source. No firewood for sale on-site, but the campground manager (a very nice and helpful couple) told me about a place about 7 miles away that sells very good firewood for $4/bundle.
I was here for three nights, first night (Thursday) very peaceful and quiet, but the next two nights were a bit louder when the families moved into the campground for the weekend.
There is some decent hiking from the campground, one hike of maybe 2 miles (one way) to a reservoir, and another of 3 miles (one way) to the "Falls of Lana" (or something like that), which is really just a cascade, but nice nonetheless.
Tucked down a gravel road in the Green Mountain National Forest is this hidden treasure. Large sites, friendly campground host, the moosalamoo trailhead right next to campground. The trail connects to many others. You will pass several trailheads on your way up to the campground. Many of the sites are reservable, others are first come first serve. You will find a pay station as you enter the campsite. The camp host is at site 1. Surprisingly clean vault toilets. No showers. There are dumpsters on the way out for trash and recycling. I saw bear storage lockers but I did not use them as I had my bear keg with me. Behind the parking spur at the site there is gravel with picnic table and fire pit. Beyond that in the trees was a spot for the tent. I didn’t experience many bugs, no mosquitoes, what I saw the most of were caterpillars. But If you needed bug spray or forgot anything back in town a few miles Ripton grocery has you covered.
there are no amenities other than cascading waterfalls, mountain views, incredible swimming hole, a nearby lake, a picnic table and a fire ring. the easiest access to sites one and two is the Silver Lake trail head parking lot on Vermont Route 53 just before Bradbury State Park. Hike or mountain bike just over .5 miles and turn left over the footbridge for sites one and two. The sites are just steps from incredible mountain views, an unbelievable swimming hole, and 3 amazing large waterfalls. The trail to the sites connect to both Moosalamo National Recreation Area and Bradbury State Park tails and are part of a five mile loop trail Silver Lake is just a one mile hike from the sites. The trail to the site features a multitude of cascading falls and is incredibly tranquil. Suitable for solo hikers and families, the sites are large.
this place is such a great getaway, the campground doesn't have many sites, but i have yet to experience a full campground. This is pretty basic camping, there are the basic outhouse toilets, and parking for about 2 cars, There is also a few spouts to get some fresh water. All in all this is a fun little get away, and not to mention the name moosalamoo is just fun to say!
