## Overview

 Spruces Campground sits on the south shore of Navajo Lake, on the Dixie National Forest, it provides a spectacular setting for boating, canoeing, camping, fishing, wildlife viewing and photography. The popular Virgin Rim River Trail is located just a short 1/2 mile hike from the campground.

 Boat rentals, a boat ramp, rustic cabin lodging and supplies are available at nearby Navajo Lake Lodge. Duck Creek Pond is seven miles east with excellent fishing as well as a the Duck Creek visitor center. \_Cedar Breaks National Monument is a short 20 minute drive, with hiking trails, guided tours and breathtaking scenery. Just outside Cedar Breaks is the Ashdown Gorge Wilderness Area, where hikers will find miles of trails and the Twisted Forest trail, a stand of ancient bristlecone pine.

Spruces is right up Big Cottonwood Canyon which makes it more of a Staycation for us. They are strict on the 10pm quiet time which can be great if you are there to sleep and get up early but can be an inconvenience if you want to stay up late chatting around the fire. Another negative is its located in a water shed so you have to leave your fur babies at home.  They also book up very quickly for the summer. Try to get a site by the river the white noise is great for sleeping. 

Conveniently located near the Salt Lake City 

This campground has the advantage of being up the canyon so you feel far away from the city, but close enough that you could go on a work night and still make it to the office the next day. Fire pits and restrooms are near campsites, but note that the gate closes late at night so expect to walk from the road if you show up too late. More of a loud, lively site than a quiet spot in the wilderness. A fun place for camping and making s'mores with friends.

Great Overnight Close to SLC

I stayed at Spruces a few years ago and absolutely loved it. There is an awesome hike to Dog Lake on the North side of the canyon close to the campground.

Questival

It was a great camping spot! It was quite the drive up the canyon, however it was worth it! With the current fire restrictions you aren't able to have fires unless it's an official campground like Spruces. I enjoyed having our own personal space and privacy as well! Great camp manager who was always willing to help!

This place is a gem. Warm water, no motorized boats. Perfect place for paddle boarding or kayaking. If you’re into fishing the lake is stocked with trout. Multiple dispersed camping spots that are only accessible by boarding or swimming. 

Early morning to afternoon is best as the wind picks up in the late afternoon.
