Great for being free
This area is comprised of loosely organized “spots” many with rock fire pits. Most spots are obvious with back in or pull through parking, but other areas are more open and just up for the taking. There’s no official number of spots and as long as you and your neighbor are comfortable, some squeezing in can certainly take place. The area is not maintained and can be rough, but all type of vehicles where there. It’s very close to the highway but not noisy and is quiet and dark at night. It’s a beautiful setting with classic southern Utah red cliffs as your backdrop. Capitol Reef visitors center is 7 miles east. The entrance is not marked and is a simple dirt road, but this map location in Dyrt is correct. We were there April 5, 2021 and it was pretty full by evening time. It was extremely windy our one night and the ground is not suited to cheap tent stakes so bring some big ones. We were in camper but we watched our neighbor’s tent blow up and over the hill. No water, but there were two port-a-potties.
