Rude guard at gate

They made it kind of difficult to even get in the park you have to do everything online these days bathrooms were dirty in the coming and going it was kind of crazy didn't feel too safe how are doing work all the time and they charge too much even if you're just there for the day I thought that was kind of unfair

Nice place

Nice place for a weekend getaway. The smell that was mentioned is a thing, but we only noticed it at night. Must be the lake….Remember to book in advance online! They won’t let you in without an online reservation and cell coverage is minimal.

Unpleasant smell

The campground was decent and relatively close to the interstate without being a parking lost style camp ground. We typically love COE parks. The inner loops were very close together. Outside water side sites has more breathing room. Not sure why, but the campground smelled like a sewer line busted somewhere. It was awful if the wind wasn’t blowing in your favor.

Great weekend stop

Clear Spring Campground on Wright Patman Lake was only half full for our weekend stay which may have contributed to it's quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Our campground was across the street from the campground along the lake and was in a pine forest, which made for nice, shaded campsites with full hookups. Deer frequented the roadside near us and included 2 bucks and as many as 4 fawns. I would have liked more privacy and space between campsites, but all in all, we were happy with our campsite. Wright Patman Lake is huge and we enjoyed kayaking on the lake. In fact, there wasn't much boat traffic and the lake was amazingly quiet for a Saturday. This is a great campground for those who enjoy watersports.

Lake Texarkana

We stopped here while bikepacking through Texas in June 2014at the time it was simply due to convience but I was VERY pleasantly surprised! I found a campground I definitely want to visit again with more time to spend at the campground and all it offers! It's quite large, well kept with a friendly staff. Its mere size makes it nice if you just want to go for a bike ride around the park itself. An abundance of wildlife to see. We were visited at our site by an armadillo and we had the the joy of watching a mother & father owl teaching their child how to hunt for It's meals. Their bath houses were immaculate and air conditioned. I can't begin to capture the beauty of this park in words or pictures. You'll just have to trust me enough to give it a try. You won't be disappointed!

SiteI don't remember our site #, it was near the lake and a bath house.

Lovely Corp of Engineers park

This was a very beautiful campground.  Tall pines and a few trails.  Bathrooms are clean and maintained.  Easy biking on the roads in the park.  We were there over Thanksgiving weekend and it was almost completely full, then everyone left on Sunday!  The reservoir was low.  Looks like it is a popular place in the summer.  There is a large beach across from the campground.

Lake Side Camping

Stayed overnight in my camper car, 20 feet away from the lake. Very pretty campground that's well taken care of.

Great campground with beautiful Lake view

This is another well designed COE campground. Sites are well separated from neighbors. There are some sites (Loops D and E) that have full hookups including sewer, but the most desirable sites are in Loop B, some of which have direct views of the lake. Sites B 1 through B 14 are especially desirable. We had site B 6 which we rate excellent. I am sure that reservations must be made long in advance for these sites.

Volunteer hosts and rangers were friendly and helpful. We will be back.

Nice and Quiet Under Tall Pines

We arrived for our 4-night stay at this COE campground 177 days after making reservations and were greeted by friendly camp hosts. Our FHU site was spacious but weirdly laid out that had our fire pit just two feet from the neighbor's sewer hookup. Who designs these sites?!?! Level D loop site with sewer hook-up at the rear of parking pad, so bring your loooooooooong stinky slinky!  Heavy-duty concrete picnic table and a bar-height wooden prep table next to a BBQ grill, or as we saw many using it as a fish cleaning table. No vegetation between campsites in the D & E loops. Very clean park! Since our four-night stay was during the week, it was extremely quiet, no road noise, with more than half of the campsites vacant. At 6am we experienced a no-warning total power outage throughout the park for nearly 3 hours. Wildlife viewing was only a couple of deer at dusk

We read warnings about ANTS so we prepare all items where our trailer touched the ground with ant repellent. We didn't experience any ants what so ever, so not sure if it was because of the repellent or the cooler October temps or we just got lucky!

Beautiful views friendly host

We stayed for a quick night en route north. The host left the gate code for us since we arrived after 9 and checked on us in the morning. Site B14 was a pull through with an actual deck looking out on the lake. It was beautiful and easy to set up in the dark, fit our RPod and a truck easily. Clean bathrooms, lots of wildlife. Trash in the fire pit and the water was hard to turn on but those were minor issues. Would stay there again.

Lake, trees, spacious sites, friendly staff

COE park on Wright Patman Lake. Numerous sites with full hookups, many with electricity & water. The staff here are super friendly & helpful. Deer are oftentimes seen in the park. Clean restrooms with showers. Boat launch & dock. Lakeview sites have great views but no sewer hookups. Ants can be bad during summer & fall.
