Quiet Place to Unwind

Staying at Buckhorn for the weekend. The campground is small, serene, and well maintained. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Some of the waterfront sites have a deck to sit and relax on. The park is very clean. We are enjoying relaxing here.

Fun place to camp

This ground is situation Lake o’ the Pines in east Texas. This is a corp of engineers lane and has many amp grounds available to stay.

Although the lake itself is pretty dirty, it’s fun to fish and play on water craft. Fellow campers are usually pretty friendly. This location is water and electricity only, no sewer hookups. Bath houses serve are purpose. They are don’t the nicest, but not the worst.

Fire rings are situated at each camp site. Concrete pads and picnic tables, also.

Popular Campground

We arrived about 3:30 PM and check in was quick and easy. We proceeded to back-in site E139 with water& 50/30 AMP. The signage to our area had a R in front of the site numbers but all the site numbers on the posts have an E in front of them, so be aware of this discrepancy if coming in late. Back-in was easy on to the narrow pad that was long enough for our 39’ 5th wheel and F-450 truck parked in front, but not by much. There was a very nice deck with the fire pit/bbq nicely placed right off the deck. Site 140 next to us with the other deck is actually a pull through double site. Longest sites in this area of the CG are 109- 113. Other sites had short pads so be sure to check the length when you reserve. All of the pads in the CG looked fairly level. We got 2 bars on Verizon and a handful of OTA channels. With the amount of trees in the CG satellite could be iffy. Water pressure was okay at around 35 psi. The CG also had a separate and very nice tent area near the playground. They were remodeling the main restroom/shower so it was closed during our stay, but there was another facility in each RV area(100 and 200) that had toilets and a shower but were older and in need of updating. We stayed over the weekend and the CG was very busy. We enjoyed the great water view from the deck on our site during our 4 night’s stay.

Found By Accident

We found this campground as we were avoiding hurricane Nicholas. We didn’t have reservation which was a little bit on an issue as the campground does not accept payment on site. We made our reservation while parked at ranger gate shack. Cell phone reception (t-mobile) was spotty so this was more difficult than it should have been. Reservations are made at recreation.gov. Cost was reasonable, restrooms were functional but heavily used. We were one of only 5 campers in the campground on weekday but I spoke with another camper who said it fills up on the weekend. Campground right on the banks of beautiful reservoir. Watch out for creepy crawlers - found this guy in men’s room. Really enjoyed the antique stores in nearby Jefferson.

Great family weekend!

Our stay here was great! We had fun fishing, boating, geocaching, cooking out and more. Grounds are in good shape and fishing is good.

Love this place

Spur of moment trip to just get away. Fwel lucky to find. Nice, clean, friendly, concrete backin spaces, big, shady, quite, wildlife roaming, friendly staff, no sewage but dump station, showers dated but hot water and clean. Swimming, gated, need pass, boating, playground. Close to historic , I'm in love with that part of the town , Jefferson Texas. Gonna make a post regarding a Jefferson 5x boondocking parking lot with or without hookups, free over night, or $12 hookup to electric. Don't know why everyone complains so much. Yes its a parking lot across street from police station. Laid back town, step back in time. Obviously they only see parking lot but this area is awesome. Just spent whole day hunting bigfoot, eating ice cream from old timey parlor, many, things to do and see in walking distance.
Back to this camp ground. It's surounded by beautiful Lake of the pines. Would and will definately be baci real soon.

Very Peaceful!

Just got back from a weekend tent camping here. Stunning views and very clean camp grounds! Even in the winter, there's lots of people camping here yet it's still VERY quiet and relaxing. Would recommend this site any time of year.

Very hot.

Was very hot when we went. There was no shade even with our awnings and canopies up! Got in the water to cool off and water was even hotter. Nice campground, not impressed with the bath house. Not saying I wont return but not anytime soon.

Peaceful getaway

Campsites are usually pretty clean. Nice bath houses available. These sites do not have sewer hookups, but do have a dump station. Easy access to the water for fishing and boating. There is a playground, but equipment heats up with the sun and becomes very hot.

Terrific Find

We have camped here twice and plan another trip in July. Beautiful lake, well maintained park with spacious sites, lots of shade, and amazing sunsets. Close to Jefferson, with great shopping, museums, and restaurants. Can’t say enough good things about this jewel in the piney woods of east Texas
