Repeat visitor- missed the mark this time.

This is our 4th visit to this resort. My entire family looks forward to this trip each year. There is a similar setup much closer to home, minus the beach but with the addition on a wibit course, that would charge the same rates in a weekend, as we get during a peak summer season for a week. With what this resort offers, it is more than worth the drive and price!

I will say, this year there were just a couple things that put a damper on the trip, that we’ve never experienced before. People parking along the narrow driveways or along the narrow roads, making it difficult to drag our rig in, was a negative mark as soon as we pulled in. Again, we’ve never had this issue before, but it made things difficult as the paths are just big enough for one vehicle. The second negative was a charter bus with a bunch of kids of all ages, pulled in. It wouldn’t have been too big of an issue except, this kids were WILD!! They were not RV guests. They came with a church just for the day. Which would have been fine, except they flooded the lazy river, and had no etiquette or manners. They jumped in the river on top of people, we’re throwing footballs, frisbees, and tubes- hitting guests with the objects, and most of the rv guests evacuated the area until they departed. I realize this is a business and they can do with it what they want, but when I’ve spent $500 to sleep in said resort, I hope for the amenities to be to MY advantage and safely. My children were hit with many of the objects thrown.

Now, on to the positives. Like I mentioned, this is our 4th summer spent at this resort. We truly do enjoy it. There are so many things available to do, you truly don’t have to leave, if you didn’t want to. Multiple pools, a jacuzzi, sauna, lazy river, mini golf, movies, bouncy pillow, and a brisk walk to the beach. That doesn’t include the multiple bath houses, laundry facilities, and the pavilion. We were disappointed to see the original hot tub filled in with soil, plants and mulch, but figured there must have been a really expensive issue with it, which it why it was filled in and an external one was brought in. Granted, it didn’t seem that the new jacuzzi was operating properly, as it didn’t get hot enough. But it was a nice additional, all the same. The gates to the pool and splash pad were locked, making it difficult for kids to go back and forth from the splash pad to the pool. We mentioned it to the office, but when we left the pool area 4 hours later, no one ever unlocked the gate.

The grounds are kept up daily. There’s always someone mowing, weedeating , or inspecting things to ensure everything is tidy. Most guests follow the guidelines and keep their sites neat.

We were put up against the road, which we were t thrilled with. It’s a good distance from the amenities, especially since we don’t have a golf cart, but it wasn’t as noisy or as bad as we thought it might be.

There are great places to eat nearby. There are also a couple of little stores, should you need anything!

Fun Labor Day getaway!

To celebrate September birthdays, we took advantage of the king holiday weekend to visit Jellystone. We’ve been here a couple of times before, but in the winter months. It was great to take advantage of the water amenities available! My kids loved the splash pad/water slides (I did too!). The bouncy pillow is always a fan favorite, and we spent just as much time there as we did in the water. Great evening movies, lots of fun activities, and close to Tyler if you decide to venture out and get some good food, or find something to do!

Our site was very shady, and our ac had no issue keeping up with the temps. Our particular site was a pie shape. We had visitors Saturday, and there were some parking blues because of how narrow the site was. We only chose this site because it was all that was available when booking. We prefer to be closer to all the fun! But overall we were happy with the location.

Cozy

Clean, friendly park. Close to a gas station. Laundry facility on site. Close to a small town with stores and restaurants. Just down from the exit ramp to I-20.

Friendly

Good place to stay. Close to Hallsville. Full hook ups. Clean park. Great laundry facility and bath house.

Always a hit!

Although this isn’t the cleanest water, it’s a fun time for water craft, fishing and relaxing. This lake is situated in east Texas and is a corp of engineers lake. Every site is a concrete pad with a picnic table and fire ring. Hooks up are water and electricity only, no sewer. Phone service is spotty. Campgrounds are kept clean. Bathhouses are decent. Bring deep woods off to keep the mosquitos at bay!

Fun place to camp

This ground is situation Lake o’ the Pines in east Texas. This is a corp of engineers lane and has many amp grounds available to stay.

Although the lake itself is pretty dirty, it’s fun to fish and play on water craft. Fellow campers are usually pretty friendly. This location is water and electricity only, no sewer hookups. Bath houses serve are purpose. They are don’t the nicest, but not the worst.

Fire rings are situated at each camp site. Concrete pads and picnic tables, also.

Cute!

We stayed at this campground in December 2021. It was close enough to enjoy the light festival in natchitoches. Fairly quieter campground. While we were there, the bath house could have used some love. The drains weren’t draining and it was pretty dirty.

Enjoyed having a water front site to fish and enjoy views of the river.

Pretty, but not for us.

My family visited with my mother in law and my sister in law and her family. The managers acted like it was going to be a crazy busy weekend over Memorial Day. There’s 8 RVs here, and even the swimming hole has room for everyone, and then some.

The site is situated with a spring that opens up to swim in. The water is unnaturally blue, and truly looks dyed. It’s ice cold, though! Back in the woods where the water is running, it’s crystal clear and beautiful. The best part is the deer that will walk right up to you that you can hand feed. The flies are horrendous, and so are the ants. The bathhouse is exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed utilizing this feature. Management is different. We’ve been micromanaged to death during our stay. We’ve been asked dozens of time what we’re doing, what are plans are, how long we’re staying etc…. We were even asked to help catch a cat that’s running around with a double eye infection, and possibly a case of mange. We affectionately refer to it as zombie cat. It’s very sweet, just needs some veterinary care.

Cell phone service here is almost non existent. We have sprint service and have one bar, if we are outside in certain areas. Would not recommend staying here if you work remotely.

Otherwise, it’s very quiet and peaceful. Very clean. White rock parking areas for pads, full hookups.

Perfect for a vacation!

The first time we visited this resort was in 2020, for 4 days. It wasn’t long enough. We went back in July 2021, and had to stay for a week!

The resort is clean and has so many things to offer. This year, an enclosed/covered pool was new, and a canopies over the wading area in the lazy River were also an added feature. Mini golf is always a hit, and we enjoyed the nightly movies. There’s public beach access across the road, offering a great opportunity to hunt seashells. Each time we visited the beach, it was very clean.  The splash pad is great for the kids, and it’s conveniently located right next to one of the pools.

There is a small store in the office. You can also order pizzas there. Just down the road is a grocery store and a few restaurants. You can drive further down to the sea wall and enjoy all the benefits of Galveston!

Great summer fun

Clean campsites, easy water access. Great restroom facilities available. Swim area is also accessible. There’s some volleyball pits and walking trails.

Peaceful getaway

Campsites are usually pretty clean. Nice bath houses available. These sites do not have sewer hookups, but do have a dump station. Easy access to the water for fishing and boating. There is a playground, but equipment heats up with the sun and becomes very hot.

Great family fun!

We just completed our first visit to this park! Our daughter has a December birthday, and she decided to not have a party, but to go camping instead! We stayed busy the entire stay! So much fun and lots to do with hay rides, gem stone mining, laser tag, outdoor movies, crafts, mini golf, basketball, volleyball, a kangaroo jump bounce pillow (their favorite thing), a playground and lots of activities within a brief drive! Our kids loved the gem mining and bounce pillow, as well as the mini golf. Watching polar express under the stars was a great treat! This park has full hookups and sewer, making a comfortable stay with kids! We even had to visit the laundry facility, as we had a child get sick in the middle of the night. Super safe, gated park, and very quiet this time of year! We loved every second of our stay, right from the minute we entered! We arrived late, and were still greeted by the night groundsman, who kindly escorted us to our RV site, and made sure we had everything we needed! We will definitely be visiting again!! We can’t wait to check it out in the summer and play at the water park!
