The Best Camping Near Canyon Lake, Texas

depending on what time of year you go you may run into more people than you want. We picked a weekend that was hot knowing not many would want to camp. The areas you can camp at are primitive enough that you still feel like you are in the forest. Definitely bring a lot of what since there isn’t a place to get any. Some wildlife coyotes and snakes for sure

One with nature 

We love coming out here. It’s a gorgeous view. The water is crystal clear and it’s a great place to be one with nature. The only thing that I don’t like are the bathrooms which are pretty close to an outhouse which some people don’t have a problem but I guess I’m picky .

I spent days searching how to reserve or get someone with info on the phone.  There are only two campground open at Canyon Lake for the 2020 season and can be reserved on recreation.gov.   Canyon Park is CLOSED for the rest of 2020

The park is closed for the remainder of 2020. We went last year and had a blast. There avvery limited sites. But great water access.

We had a great time out here on the military reserve side. Took my parents and the kids. Purple campsite was just a small walk away from the small store and bathrooms. It was a nice campsite but the sites were kinda close together. The spot we had overlooked a small beach area where you could swim and launch boats. We took jet skis and had a blast. 

Fun family trip

Stayed here in October and did cold plunges and it was so lovely! Beautiful hikes and sunsets!
