Top notch campground!

First RV park we've EVER stayed at. We were driving our new RV from Alvarado, TX to Albuquerque, NM and stopped in Amarillo for the night. After 6 hours of my first RV trip, I was really ready to rest! We arrived a little after 7, so they had called me mid-afternoon to confirm we were coming and gave us instructions for after-hours check-in. We found our spot immediately (they had left us a map with our spot circled and arrows to guide us...low tech but simple). Settled in.  Power was great. All other hook-ups a breeze.

The next morning, we had a chance to look around. I doubt any RV parks are glorious to look at, but I appreciated that they had curved streets, so it didn't just look like row after row of RVs, but like a little neighborhood. Plenty of dumpsters around to get rid of trash. A nice "club house" with necessities as well as gift items. Friendly staff. The restrooms were a bit stark...but serviceable. The bar is now pretty high for RV parks of the future for us.

(By the way, we had never eaten at The Big Texan even after years of driving past it. We decided to celebrate there. Call them and they will send a limo over to the RV park to transport you! That was fun, and frankly, since we didn't have a tow car...a big cost savings over Uber.)

Nice well kept spot

Stayed one night. Grounds are well kept. Staff very helpful. Level gravel parking spots with full utilities. Ours was pull through. 3 fenced dog areas. They are small but fine. Since during Covid did not use facilities so can’t report on them. Fairly large park so can walk dogs around on leash. Not a ton of grass but sufficient. Near interstate so some noise but not terrible. Also heard a train. Overall nice spot to stay.

It’s cool for an overnight

We stopped for a quick overnight stay on our way to Yellowstone. It has big spots that are pull through and the greatest thing was the Big Texas Steakhouse delivered!! We didn’t get in until 9:00 and they deliver all the way until 10:00.

Easy place to stop for the night

Stayed here a few years ago for one night. Sites were level, access to the Big Texan Steakhouse was great, and hookups worked great. Road noise and wind noise were a little more than we would have liked, but otherwise it was a perfect place to get off the highway and rest.

Not what the pictures show on the Dyrt

This is a actually the location for the “Big Texan” RV ranch. Hot and dry in July with limited shade. Has two fenced in small areas for dogs. Laundry room was clean. Bathrooms were locked. Sites are almost all gravel with a little grass. There’s a music venue across the road that might be fun but it was not open. Not my favorite spot.

Big Texan RV Ranch, Amarillo, TX

We searched and searched for a good campsite that had restrooms and showers. How happy we were to find the Big Texan RV Ranch! Not only good restrooms and showers, but an indoor pool, hot tub, 3 enclosed dog parks, very friendly desk staff and folks that escort you to your site. Do call ahead to let them know you are coming, as they fill up. The price for full hookups, with our Good Sam discount was $36 a night.

Met our needs for a night

Decent reviews brought us here for a single night on a trip across Route 66. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The park itself looks a bit dated and appears to have been built on the remnant of an old neighborhood or mobile home park - this means a lot of concrete and not much vegetation or natural beauty. The children enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed ample water pressure at each site though - it met our needs for sure, but just wasn’t a 5 star stop.

Good campground near Big Texan

Stayed here one night. Great indoor pool with sauna and hot tub. Fenced areas for three separate dog parks. Good level sites. Will stay here again.

Great Park to stop for the night

We were driving through Amarillo when we saw a billboard advertising this RV park.  We had no trouble getting a campsite without notice.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stopped mainly for the indoor pool.  However they also offer Limo Rides to the Big Texan Restaurant where you can order a massive steak.  They also have a playground for kids.

The sites were on concrete and did not have any shade where we were.
