The Best Camping Near Deschutes National Forest, Oregon

Anywhere you go on the Cascades Lake Highway is amazing, views that go on for hours of the mountains. This campsite allows you to be engulfed in these views for however long you want. Directly across the lake you get views of Mt Bachelor, South Sister and Broken Top. In the early season its very buggy and I would suggest bring a lot of bug spray, it kinda helps. The facilities are clean and well kept. I would suggest waiting to come here until around August when all of the bugs are gone but the views are absolutely spectacular!

I’m a big fan of swimming, so this shallow lake was awesome because of how warm it gets in the summer months

It is also super close to Bend, about 45 minutes... man Bend has it all. 

No FWD needed as this is right off the road. There are other sites on the other side of the lake, that would still not require FWD.. it’s a nice Dirt road. 

Fire rings and designated sites here. 

Some people come just for the day, so I can imagine it being more crowded on a weekend.
