Lots of amenities and lots of people

This is a really big campground with lots of trees and lawn space. The sites are kind of close together, there isn't much privacy. The showers and other amenities are really nice. Our campsite was about a 2 minute walk from the river. We visited during the week in August and the got the very last campsite available.

Just Okay

I feel like I should probably like this campground more, after reading other reviews that call it the "best campground in Oregon" and such, for me it was just kind of meh. The campground is huge with numerous loops full of RVs and tents, and there's plenty of grass and space for running around, but most of the sites are really on top of each other without much in the way of privacy in-between. It's also right off the I-5 freeway and you can definitely hear the traffic.

For us the absolutely best park was the ranger program/camp host activity that was going on while we were there. They had water activities, a tent to check out animal skulls and such, and lots of kids hanging out and playing. I don't know, however, if that event was specific to the awesome camp hosts who were there at the time or if it's always going on.

Overall a pretty basic campground with some major drawbacks including the traffic noise and less-than-exciting campsites, though we never made it down to the river, which I'm sure would have been a lot more fun.

Lot's of amenities

This park was filled with green lawns and very clean, new, showers. The Rogue River was very accessible. The campground was also full of people, mostly families with small children.

Popular State Park Near the Rogue River

Popular state park on the banks of the Rogue River in Southern Oregon. Numerous RV camp loops with cement pads. Full-Hook-ups available, though sites are close together. There are a few that are near the shoreline of the river. Tent camping also available on-site, though the whole campground is near I-5 in that the main entrance is through a rest area. That said, it’s a well loved and well used park with nice facilities. When we were there the camp host was hosting a cool junior ranger program complete with a tent of nature artifacts and activities for the kids.

Clean and calm! But close to i5

Grest, clean facilities. A decent amount of space between campsites... But it is very very close to the interstate so its pretty loud at night. It is located on the river though, so that is nice!

Perfect quick & easy stop from Ca to Wa

I read reviews before I came and knew what to expect. It was convient to pull off Hwy 5 after a long trip with 4 kids and set up camp quickly. We had a tent site -A9 and it was a roomy site close to a very clean bathroom. It was definitely close to the freeway and you can hear the car traffic, but we were so tired that it was nice white noise.

There was a nice trail by our site and it runs along the river, which can be accessed in a few places where the brush has been cut back. We would definitely stop here again on our way up to Wa again.

Best State Campground in Oregon

This is a great campground just outside of Grant’s Pass, OR. We used it as a stop over on the way to Crater Lake so we could get up early and get a good spot at one of the National Park campgrounds. The sites are decently far apart from one another, but there isn’t a ton of privacy. The best part is most certainly the amenities - including free showers! There’s a decent amount of shade and it’s not far from town if you need to stock up on supplies. The staff is very friendly and the bathrooms are clean.

Brilliant blue waters in an intrepid forest.

This beautiful camp ground is a must! They have Cabins and camp sites available. I would advise reserving far in advance. The park and sites are well taken care of and a wonderful environment for a peaceful stay with hot shower facilities and restrooms.

Family and pet friendly, you will have direct river access to The Rogue River and its brilliant blue waters. Located down it's own little valley, this gives it the seclusion you are looking for and the access to town, if needed, only about 20 minutes away.

This camp ground is well worth any drive you may have to take to get there. Gorgeous!

Freeway Noise

If you’re looking for a spot right off of I-5, then this is a great location. The camp is clean, great camp hosts, famIly-frIendly wIth paved paths where kiddos can ride their bikes. Other than that, the freeway noise was very irritating and made it hard to enjoy ourselves.

Camp Homeless

Camped here two times in 2018, once in the RV loops with my Husband and then again in the tent loop with a friend.

The RV Trip, my husbands truck had gasoline syphoned and the cap replace with one that did not work and cause his vehicle to throw and error code while he was driving home. We thought it was a bummer, but chalked it up to being right off the freeway.

Two weeks later I camped in the tent loops and saw that several sites were occupied by a community of people living there. Literally sweeping their dirt. There was a lot of traffic coming and going from these sites, including tents shifting from one side of the street to the other. It wasn’t just family fun time, there were people backing out there cars and heading to work the next morning. Speaking of morning, I woke at 5 am and sat and watch 3 different vehicles repeatedly make rounds through the loops. Two of which had busted out back windshield, making theft of generators and such that much more easy....it was so bad, I forfeited my second night.

Too much crime here. And coming from a person who camps 8-10 times a Summer, I am sure I will never return to Valley of the Rogue. Best of luck cleaning this place up...oh yeah, and maybe get the homeless people to clean up their dog feces, which was everywhere.

Great state campground in Southern Oregon

The great thing about this place is that it's great for both tent and rv. The rv campers will love the easy access and set up. The spots are spaced apart giving everyone as much room as you can have on an rv park.

I will say that you can hear the freeway traffic from the campground but it's not a show stopper for most people. Full hook ups and some pull through sites which are level and paved.

Great Thru Campsite

Would I describe this place as the pinnacle of what Oregon has to offer? Probably not, but for us it was perfect since we only had 5 days to travel the whole Pacific Coast from San Diego to Seattle. This was close to the freeway, so yeah definitely noise but everyone we met was really nice. Also not to far from here is a dog park so your furry half can stretch their legs in compliance with leash laws. First place we’ve stayed in Oregon and we really love it.

Hot showers and beautiful river.

This campground is rogjt of the highways. Super convenient. Very clean park facility. Fairly close sites but pretty quiet. Clean hot showers were super appreciated. Our dogs enjoyed playing in the grass here. We ended our night with a gorgeous sunset. All facilities are available here!

A nice place except for the other people

The good: Nice clean facilities, free showers with warm water, generally seemed like a well-run campground. Has river access and a nice paved path for walking or cruising around on a bike. Freeway noise, while present, didn't seem too bad.

The bad: This campground, for some reason, seems to attract all the worst sorts of car campers. The blast-loud-music-from-an-idling-car people. The shouted-conversation people. The woefully-unprepared. The weird-hippies-on-a-converted-school-bus. The arguing-couple. The uncontrolled-children. They're all present, and there's almost no separation between the sites, so if your neighbors are annoying people you're going to share in the experience. This place is fine as a convenient stopover, but If you're going camping to seek solitude and appreciate the wonders of nature, this is not the campground for you.
