 Located next to Odell Lake, Princess Creek Campground is in the midst of sparkling lakes, tranquil streams and nearby scenic peaks that provide visitors with the perfect backdrop for fishing, boating, hiking and biking throughout the area.
## Recreation

 Odell Lake also offers beautiful campsites tucked away in thick forests and some excellent opportunities for water recreation as boating, fishing and wind surfing are all popular. Boats are the most effective way to fish this lake but be aware of afternoon winds as the lake can get rough. Both motorized and non-motorized boats are allowed on this body of water.
## Natural Features

 This area offers a beautiful mix of Oregon forest types with Douglas fir, white fir, hemlock and a few ponderosa pines towering over a variety of springtime flowers. Huckleberry is common in the underbrush of the campground. Wildlife found in the area include deer, elk, pine martens, ravens, native fish and an occasional black bear. Diamond Peak stands as a sentinel over Odell Lake as one of the blue giants of the Deschutes National Forest and the most prominent peak in the nearby Diamond Peak Wilderness. At an elevation of 8,744 feet, this shield volcano formed as the entire Cascades mountain range was undergoing volcanic activity and uplift. 
## Nearby Attractions

 Campers can explore wilderness areas, rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and approximately 1,600 miles of trails that comprise nearly 2.5 million acres within the Deschutes National Forest and the adjacent Ochoco National Forest. Visitors can enjoy traveling the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, known as Oregon's Highway in the Sky, which climbs into the clouds on a 66-mile drive through the Cascade Range, weaving past snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes. Lava Lands Visitor Center in nearby Bend, Oregon, and the unique geological landscape of Newberry National Volcanic Monument draw visitors to the region as well. It is a great starting point for visitors to learn about the diverse landscape and history of the area through interpretive programs and exhibits. Visitors can also explore the Lava River Cave, located in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. At 5,211 feet in length, the northwest section of the cave is the longest continuous lava tube in Oregon. A nearby resort on Odell Lake offers lodging and a general store with camping supplies, coffee, snacks and fishing licenses.

The Best Camping Near Crescent, Oregon

Driving from Portland to Crater Lake, we happened upon this campground when we couldn’t find our original goal (Salt Creek) and it was starting to get a bit dark. This happy little accident turned out to be a beautiful little campground with our own private mini beach. About 30 sites with no facilities other than fairly clean pit toilets. Sites are decently sized. We were there on a Wednesday night arriving at 7 and managed to snag an open site right on the lake. While the main description says it’s not great for RVs, it’s almost completely filled with travel trailers and a few larger RVs and there’s lots of pull-throughs, so I don’t think that’s much of a problem.

It is fairly close to highway 58, so you can definitely hear the traffic. There’s also a train than runs and occasionally honks its horn, but that seems to be coming from further away, perhaps across the lake.

Overall, a great stopping point with beautiful sites. For just $14, I think it’s definitely worth it.

**Tips:** grab a spot on the water if you can. You can even launch your boat and tie it up at your campsite.

Beautiful little campground with a bit of noise

I LOVE THIS CAMPGROUND! We will be returning soon. This site is walk-in and has space for parking, boats, and large family tents right on the lake. No showers, but the bathrooms are clean. Odell lake is gorgeous and has a rock bottom, Great for wading out into the water or swimming. Fishing is an option if you have a larger boat or canoe to withstand the waves of the water. Also, gorgeous views of the mountain if you want to use the nearby day use area!!

Fantastic views of the lake and mountains beyond! Camp sites with parking for 1 large or two small vehicles. Some grass camping, some pine floor. Restrooms available. Pet friendly.

We spent a week there in October and it was beautiful and empty. Very quite other than a little road noise. No water on site but has vault toilets. Amenities are close by.

My husband and I drove about 3.5 hours with all our gear and our two dogs to this campground. It looked that beautiful in the photos, and the lake and mountain views are undoubtedly gorgeous. But the campground itself leaves a lot to be desired...as soon as we arrived, there was this creepy, doomy, vacant feeling. Uncared for, untended sites. Rusted and pushed over dumpsters. No camp host. The sign on our site (20) hadn't been updated and a father and young son were all set up with a fire...and who is to blame them? No one had posted our reservation and we didn't want to ruin their time. Not their fault.

Just gotta take this one on the chin. So weird because I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with all parks in the pnw (state and national). Probably will not return.

Also one million bazillion trillion mosquitos.


If I could give zero stars...

Site 29 does not have a place for any size tent, not even my backpacking tent...I ended up pulling my car as far forward as I could and using the parking space. Other than that great views!
