The Best Camping Near Cave Junction, Oregon

We took a chance with this campground on the way to the Oregon Caves. No reservations...you just show up and hope. But we took a shot on a Monday night and found a sweet spot right on Sucker Creek. There are only a few sites that sit on the creek, but a few others have a great view of it. Almost all sites were acceptable though. We met some folks who had been there two weeks and they said the campground was never full. Vault toilets that were not bad at all. Sites felt private. Perfect swimming hole not far way. We will be back!

Hidden gem

Amazing. The creek runs right next to about half of the campsites. We didn't show up until about 4pm, and there were plenty of spots left to chose from. Clean bathrooms, running water near the host site, and a small hiking trail that is kid and wheelchair friendly. There is a good stage and picnic spots in the day use area as well. Most campsites were shaded majority of the day. The only complaint i had, was flying bugs, but next time I know to bring some bug repellant tiki torches.

Waterfront Campsites

At $10 per night, this small campground near the Oregon Caves National Monument in Cave Junction, OR is a great option for tent campers or those with small RVs. This campground is the first one you hit on your way out to the caves.

Located right a long the creek with several campsites creekside. Plenty of hiking trails available as well to keep you busy when not exploring the caves.

Campsites were on the smaller side, but did have picnic tables and fire pits with the grill grates. Toilets also on site.

Overall a nice little primitive campground for a short stay while visiting the caves.

Cheap place to camp near the caves

Nice National Forest Campgrounds. Can have camp fires within the metal fire pits (even though your between two fires happen close by). Grounds of hwy 46 that head to the Oregon Caves National Monument between mile post 11 and 12\. Also along the Cave Creek, with a walking trail that crosses the creek it about 1/2 mile. Has two water spikes that are tested daily by camp host. Vault toilets that are clean (no spider webs). Length max is 45feet (camper and truck). Has a day use area with amphitheater.

In the forest close to OR Caves

Uncrowded, riverside, close to the caves. Rustic - no hookups. Big sites. Forest service park. Host on-site.

Oregon Caves just down the road

I had always wanted to camp here , so this summer i got my chance.

The place was mostly empty even in July, and there were some strange characters around.

It wasnt paticularly beautiful, but OK i guess.

I dont kno why i just didnt like it here.

Strange and weird

This has to be our all time favorite camp spot in sw Oregon. 
Can’t beat the price…quiet…nice trails….clean bathrooms.
We love getting a spot on the creek and listen to it all night long.
Not too far from Cave Junction for supplies.

Favorite Campground in sw Oregon

Grayback Campground is a hidden gem if you’re looking to get away out of the crowds in September. The park is rustic and quiet. We stayed in site 37 next to the River. You will not be disappointed here. 

Drive 12 miles up on Hwy 46 from Cave Junction to the Oregon Caves.
