Black Lake Campground is located in the Mount Hood National Forest near Hood River, Oregon. The terrain consists of dense forests and a nearby lake, providing a natural setting for camping. Temperatures range from 30°F in winter to 80°F in summer, and nearby attractions include Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge.

Black Lake Campground provides primitive tent sites on the east shore of Black Lake located in the northern part of Mt Hood Natioanl Forest in the Hood River Ranger District. The area accesses nearby Black Lake Trail. The trail network in this area enters Mark Hatfield Wilderness to the north. This area is primitive and less visited than more developed sites. You must pack in and pack out. Please leave no trace.

The Best Camping Near Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Oregon

I stumbled on this campground while visiting Rainy Lake, which is one mile North of Black Lake. This is a fun campground with a unique layout.

Unlike most campgrounds, the sites are not laid out on a grid. Spaces are spread seemingly randomly on the hillside just next to the lake and connected by thin hiking paths. There is no vehicle parking, but I could see bicycles and motorcycles having easy access to each campsite. A 4-wheeled vehicle will not fit in here. You'll need to park outside the campground and walk-in if that's your vehicle of choice.

The lake is visible from camp and easily accessible.

Campsite 2 is on the way to 3 and 4 so not to private. 

The camp is a close walk to many trails and other sites. 

The best campsites are those that are not crowded and you can enjoy the stillness during the day or night. 
This camp had just that no one around.! 



Greats  location 

I’ve need here a couple of times and every Saturday night hordes of teenagers show up and party all night. Loud music, drunk driving, trash everywhere, reviving up engines and yelling all night. When confronted the terns said this is where the local kids come to party and purposely run people out to keep this spot as “theirs”.
