Tent only sites - quiet, wooded

I stayed in the non-electric, tent-only campground NOT the RV campground. Out of curiosity, I drove through the RV campground and it was so loud and cramped! But the tent-only area is separate. Walk-in sites with pit toilets and potable water. The map of how the sites are laid out online is extremely inaccurate, I would not have picked my site if it had been accurate. But there was only one other camper and we all had plenty of space - I could barely see them through the trees. All sites appeared to have a picnic table and fire ring. Many miles of trails / dirt roads for hiking and biking. Clear skies at night. Very relaxing.

Good

It was a good campground, we had a hard time getting our rv to be level but overall we enjoyed it.

FLIES UP MY BUTT!!

The campground was very meh, very buggy and muddy must have been bad timing I guess. Some of the spots were decent. But my lord the vault toilers there are bio hazards every single one of them probably had 100+ flies all round inside and coming out of the toilet. Now I’m here for vault toilets I know some flies and etc are expected but it was just mind blowing. Disgusting they need to be cleaned and treated with some Lyme on a consistent basis. Will not be coming back.

Tiny, crowded

I just drove through here, I did not stay, but from what I could see: the sites were about 16 feet wide and VERY crowded. The "lake" is a pond and the beach looked very dirty. There was a chaotic amount of kids on the roads running around, on bikes, darting in front of my car, etc. I'm glad I didn't decide to stay here sight unseen because phew, this place was not for me. The lack of running water is what held me back, but now I know this place is too tiny and crowded.

Some spots better than others

Spots in the outsides of the loops are more spacious. We looked forward to the “beach” but it was very small and covered in algae. The lake was more like a large pond. There’s no running water so toilets were basically out houses. Lots of trails but they weren’t very exciting.

Quiet and cozy

Scioto Trail is a nice campground. We camped three times this summer and fall. The set-up is good. There are at least three water spigot, and they are easy to get to. Makes you feel like you're camping in the woods, not at a commercial campground. Recommended.

Peaceful and rustic

We chose to camp at Scioto Trail State Park because of it's proximity to Salt Creek Kayak Adventures. While I had hiked at Scioto Trail in the past, this was our first visit to the campground. The primitive section is located far from the electric sites, which is desirable for us. It's also a walk-in campground, which wasn't really made clear when making reservations. That said, they do allow you to drive your car to your site for loading/unloading, which was super helpful since we weren't planning on a walk-in site.

The campground is a little confusing. Sites #64-68 are not at all what we were expecting based on the map on the website. They are all on one strip of land, and you basically walk through other sites to get to your own - which is why they don't allow you to keep your cars here. #68 is all the way in the back - we were on #67. But the sites are just beautiful. They are all decent sizes and well shaded by very tall trees. We loved our site, but I think we'd opt for #68 next time, as it's the last one in the line of sites. There are no showers and pit toilets, which weren't bad at all. The campground is also really, really dark, especially since the electric sites are in a totally different section of the park. Take a walk up to the parking area at night to check out the stars as there are too many trees to really see the sky from your site.

Beautiful little park

Our family loves Scioto Trail. It is small and beautiful, very rustic. We love the naturalist, Amy and the kids love the stream that runs through the park. The lack of shower houses might turn some off. The lake is beautiful and the fishing is good.

Rain rain go away

We are staying at Scioto Trail State Park. It has been raining nonstop for 13 hours. We still managed a one mile hike with the kids. The trails we used were fantastic. The campground is clean and not busy. There is a nice size pond for fishing. Our only regret is we didn't realize there was no shower house here.
